All my hard work and aggravation and lack of sleep paid off last night!!!!

I wrote about four different motions last night and I was awake until 4 am and had to be in court at 8am.

This was all my supervisor's fault-complete neglect of a situation I brought to her attention about 3 weeks ago. We have a child who we represent as a juvenile delinquent. He was placed in a facility out east. Well, due to administrative oversight and general stupidity, his order expired. Why do I care? I want to give this sweet but formerly misguided child a chance. He is a sweetie and I feel bad for him. He wants to go home, but his mother's health makes it practically impossible and he really should finish the program that he is placed in.

As of yesterday, my formerly irresponsible client made a wise decision and decided that he would finish the school year in the placement, but we had to get him placed there under the Department of Social Services. However, this all comes down to money. No one wants to pay.

So I was flipping out and shaking. My motion was not only accepted, but as of this afternoon, my client is now safely back at the facility in social services custody....all because of me! My hard work and aggravation paid off!

To top it all off, my judge called my up and told me that he was impressed and he was so happy that I was so devoted to doing right by my client, unlike my supervisor who told me to just ignore it all.

So, a former gang kid was there in a suit, and he actually is doing really well! Imagine that!

This made it all worth it...I ran around like a psycho, but I actually moved my judge to tears!

So, yes, I will probably be in a lot of trouble for 'stealing' a case from my supervisor, but who cares? This was totally worth it....i was shaking so hard and i was so scared! But, it al worked out and everyone was very impressed with my lawyering. So YAY!!!! And boo to my incompetent supervisor!!!

We need more people like you in this world!!! YOu have not only helped to save this child's life, but potentially others by keeping him off the 'streets'

great job!!! and god bless you for giving that kid more of a shot than your supervisor did!!! to show him that someone cares will hopefully encourage him even more to do well. that in itself was probably reward enough for you! now hopefully you can catch up on your sleep tonight!
