Okay, we are married for just about 2 months and we are still living in the same apartment that we were in before we married. We are hoping to buy a house within the next year. Should I break out all of our new things like bedding, flatwear, everydaywear, pots and pans etc, or should I wait until we get the 'new house'. Is there a tradition?? I wanna use it but I also don't want everything 'used'. save it or use it???that is the question.

We are in the same situation and we didn't really use any of our new stuff yet. We are in contract now and will be moving in June. I'm excited that I didn't use most of my stuff because it will be new and it will be like getting gifts all over again. We did use a few items that we didn't have (knives, wine glasses, waffle iron) but everything else we are saving. We have the stuff we need for day to day already and we don't have alot of room to put all the new stuff anyway. If you don't think you are going to move for a long time I would use it - but if you are moving soon then save it.

I used most of my stuff in our same apartment as soon as I got it. I didn't use things I had no room for since my apartment was small (like food processor, and other bigger appliances) and I didn't use my towels for some reason. I didn't use my bedding either - still haven't - because my current bed is only full sized and waiting for my queen bed (on order).
I now have a house (I bought my house about 8 months after being married) and I do not regret that my stuff is used.

I used all of my new stuff after the wedding. I wanted to start fresh! (We are still in an apt., looking to buy a house)

as i have needed something, i have used it (ex. bakeware). we haven't used our new towels yet, but that's just because the old ones are still good. a lot of the stuff is still in our closets and probably won't be used until we move into a bigger home, as we just don't have the room to store some of it once we open it.

I had an apt that had everything that we needed...except a blender (Im glad we got 2) so all of my shower gifts stayed in storage until we moved into our house. I liked opening all the new stuff and using it for the first time in our new home!!!!

thanks girls... I am itchin' to break out our new duvet. I'm just scared that when we get a house that I won't be able to afford new anything. I guess I'll save it

we have no room for our new stuff so we aren't using it until we find a house.... But if we did have the room - sure...why not?

I am using my things and I love it! Felt like a new start! Alot of my things that I dont have room for are in the attic at my FMIL's. So I will still have new stuff when I move too! Life's short! Enjoy!

im going to save some untill we buy a house. we are hopefully going to get one in about a year so im going to use some as well. im saving the really special things.
