Am I crazy or something??

I really want to go back to work!! I was laid off right before my wedding and now 4 months later I am going crazy!! DH makes enough money to pay our rent, save and do all that other good stuff so technicly I dont 'need' to go back. Some of girlfreinds think I am crazy for wanting too, when I don't have too. I am tired of the house wife bit already!!! If we had kids, I'd love to be a stay at home mother, but we dont. Cleaning and cooking is all I have to look forward to every day and I am getting cabin fever doing nothing all the time. I've even started playing DH's video games!!

Not to mention, the more income we have, the sooner we can buy a house. We plan on renting until we are ready to have kids. DH and I want a big family, so we don't need all that space for nothing. By the time we are ready, DH's salary will cover the mortgage and we'd have enough $$ for a down payment.

This is how I see it...
It's great that I have the OPTION not to work. I think the more income we have, the more down payment we could put and the less mortgage we'll have in the long run. If we had more income, we could save for a vacation or something like that. One of my girlfriends who is a stay at home mother said I was nuts. All she does is shop for her son and eat, sleep and sh*t. I really don't want to be like that. Am I talking crazy here?

What do you think? Would you go back to work?

No you are not crazy, you are actually quite sane.

Do whatever makes you happy. No one can tell you what to do.
It is a nice luxury not having to work, but as you pointed out, if you do go back to work then you would be able to save even more money for a house.

I am totally with you! I always say that even if we won the lottery and I didn't HAVE to work ever again, I would work at least P/T! I'd go nuts sitting at home all day just cooking and cleaning!!! I hear you! (Although I am a bit jealous that you don't HAVE to work

No you are not crazy!

Ok here's the skinny: I hate work...well I like my job but the daily grind gets old...ya know? On the flipside I like making money and keeping busy and feeling that I am contributing to our house, etc. When I have kids I definitely want to stay home you know but for now I would be way too bore.

If I were you Id work and save save save or shop shop shop! LOL

Do you like what you do/did? If not find a job that you will really love and it will be a win/win. You will make money and like your job! JMO

Ohh man, I am so on board with you!! I've been out of work for 5 months and I'm going nuts!
The difference is that while we're okay with Dh's salary and my unemplyment...we're not great. I've been looking for a job since I got back from the HM.
I'd like to stay home when I have kids, but right now...this isn't fun anymore!

Right now I am in school for my bach degree in business and I am taking wedding planning/bridal consultanting coarses. That's what I'd really love to do but places either want 3+ years expirience (I have 2) or that degree. I still have about a year left, but I can't wait that long to go back. I've been looking for just a sales position at local bridal shops, but no one is hiring . The only ones availible are in Manhattan and I can't commute like that. I did fax my resume to a few, so we'll see what happens. Hopefully, they are about to get rid of someone so maybe they'll call me. That's what I really want, but honestly I'll take a receptionist job just to get out of the house

Not crazy. I always thought that I would love to stay home but this weekend for some reason I stayed in (usually out and about doing errands) and was bouncing off the walls. I was yelling 'I'm so BORED' every 10 minutes. I thought DH was gonna smother me.

Maybe a retail PT job? Get an excellent discount?

I really like staying at home, I work about 1 day a week at my DH's company, on fridays.
And i run errands for him during the week sometimes.
But i am usually home every weekday.
I really like it, i like being alone and talking on the phone and just doing whatever.

I could go into the office more and i do when there is something important for me to do like interviews and hiring of people etc.

But i defin like being able to stay at home...i know i am not the norm.

if you're really bored being home, in the meantime while you're looking for jobs maybe you can pick up a P/T job just to get out of the house and make some spending money?? like someone else said, great employee discounts out there!

or maybe a hobby you've been wanting to try but putting off because you were too busy with work?? scrapbooking, photography, jewelry-making, etc. you might even be able to make some $ doing it.

i dunno just throwing out some suggestions... being bored home svcks I know...
