Am I the only one who is taking forever to do her album?

How long did you take to pick out your pics for your albums?

I feel like such a total slacker. I've had my proofs back since August, and its now November ... and I still have not even begun to select my pics for our album (nor have our mom's selected pics for their albums!)

Don't get me wrong -- I really WANT my album! I loved my proofs. But I just feel like I cannot focus on picking the BEST ones out and trying to telling a story with them, etc.. I am really bad at that and don't know where to begin.

Meanwhile, my video will be delayed until I have my proofs selected and have songs to provide them with.. and I'm dying to see my video already

Is anyone else taking this long, or am I just lazy? (ok I know I'm lazy, just hoping that I'm not the ONLY one)

You are NOT alone! We are in the same boat - I put post-its on my favorite proofs - and that needs to be cut in half!!

I haven't done the parent albums either - I feel like a total slacker!

I want them to tell a story too, and don't know where to begin.

ummm, We were married in September 2002 and placed our album order in February 2004.

As long as you have a pile, let THEM help you cut it down!

I did mine right away because I am nuts about stuff but I had sooooo many in my YES pile and none in the MAYBE pile. The album designer really helped me decide the flow, etc.
(okay, I ended up with 136 pictures in my album so imagine what the original YES pile was!!!)


The pictures in my mom's album came from the 136 that we used in our album (of course a lot less) and then one or two pictures added of me & my brother and his wife.

ETA: There's a girl in my office who got married TEN YEARS ago and they still haven't done their album!

I am the same way. We did ours and our parents did theirs right away.

Dont feel bad. We didnt get back the photographer until 6 months after our wedding.
And our album just got in last week and we are picking up this week after one minor fix.
It was one week after our one year anniversary. I was hoping to make it by then but. Oh well.
We still havent gotten the video. We just dropped off the photos and music two months ago.

DH keeps bugging me about it, but I want him to finish his thank yous first.! I'm done with all of mine, he still has about 15 to send out. (and it's really aggrevating me!)

I had done the post it thing to, but I picked about 80 when I ordered a 40 something pic album.

I am SO anxiously awaiting my proofs- I think I will be like Wendy & Lisa, but I know my family is all going to say, wait till after you move, & get settled, wait untill after the holidays. .etc.

I'm not good at waiting. . .

I have been married 6 months and I haven't even thought about my album. I am hoping to do it by next year.

Married over 6 months and still haven't even sorted throught or narrowed down our 1200 + proofs

I just can't get motivated and really don't care anymore...I know it's so bad...I still haven't even cleaned or preserved my dress!

For those of you who did your albums quickly, I trulu commend you. I thought I would be the same way b/c I could not wait to get my proofs and I'm usually really anal about things like that, but really once we had the proofs I got lazy and overwhelmed and just didn't care about it, much to my surprise. But now its bugging me and I want to meet my photographer before the holidays come around, b/c I know we won't do it then!

I thank you all for your suggestions on how to approach the process I am glad to know that I'm not the ONLY one who is taking forever!!

ETA: Tourist, I might just take you up on your offer to help me pick out my pics!!

It only took me about 2 months to pick what I wanted - BUT - I wasn't happy with my pictures to begin with - You have so many amazing pictures - it would be really hard to choose!

Don't worry Felicia - Brad and I just picked out photos last night, and that's only b/c we have an appointment at JoVon on Saturday, so we're working against a deadline!

I haven't picked mine yet. But that's more because I don't like my proofs. I only have to pick 30 or so, and I don't think I'll find 30 that I like.

I can't get motivated either. I have all of my proofs sorted out on my dining room table. They are seriously collecting dust. I got over 1K proofs and I just can't pick the best ones. It's so hard! I am so procrastinating and I'm worried my photographer is going to forget about me if I don't get my A$$ moving!

I feel bad too, but I picked up our proofs end of Sept. I think it was and I'm getting anxious that we still haven't even narrowed our choices down. I started putting post its on them, but DH and I have to SERIOUSLY now pick out which ones. I want this album done by the end of this year.

We are haven't picked out our proofs yet for our photograph album, but that's also partially because my mom hijacked the proof book.

We really need to pick out our thank you card picture though. I want to send them out right around the holidays.

You are DEFINATELY not alone! I got married in May, and I have yet to go pick out the pictures, or even TALK to the photog since I got my proofs. It's just a time-consuming PITA, but I know I have to do it.
