Who's been watching? What do you think of the new judge? The NY auditions are tonight i think- i always think it would be funny to see someone i know auditioning. Anyone ever know anyone that auditioned??

I get sick of the auditions after the first week of them. I have been half watching them. I DVR it and then we go through and skim it in like 15-20 minutes. So far I like teh new judge. She seems fine.
I LOVED the guy the other night with the beard who answered Simons question of 'Where do you see yorself in 11 years?' with 'In a simple house with nice floors. I like marbel.' He needs his own show!

i auditioned this year but i didn't get through the 5rounds that u have to go through before getting to simon/randy/paula

as for the new judge - i think she's very talented & really knows her stuff....but i also think she'll tell you how good she is lol.

DH has known some people who have auditioned and they told him its luck on which people see you. Some are to only seek bad singers and some only seek good. So you can be the best singer ever and if a judge thats supposed to only get bad singers sees you, they can't put you through. Thats why i HATE watching all the bad people- cus I think its a big waste of time.

thanks! yea - the process really is insane..i dont think anyone can understand it unless they actually go. I get that they put the crazies through to make good television, but what i DON'T get is how u go through all that process & then get such mediocre people that actually get to the point of being on the show. Don't get me wrong - there are always a handful of really talented ones, but then there are some where i'm like : what? after ALL that?'

I saw some amazing AMAZING singers that ripped down the arena with their voices, but were just sent on there way. it really is being in the right place, at the right time, and getting the right judge who's in the right mood lol. it's crazy.

Re: American Idol...

The beginning is my favorite part and i have been watching.

The new judge-eh she can be nice but other times she can be conceited. One time a girl was singing and she wasnt bad, you can tell she had a good voice but just needed lessons, and when Cara(new judge) said something about it she didnt just comment but started singing to show her how its done, then the girl did it and did it well but cara started singing over her and wouldnt stop and was like 'thats how it's done' so she can be ok but has her moments.

Well one girl i knew was on Good day NY a few years ago and they filmed her when american idol was in NY and she was waiting on line for her turn. I never saw her on the show though.

My cousin's dream is to go on American idol and we all keep yelling at her to do it already lol. She has an amazing voice, shes taken lessons and knows how to control her voice, and not just average but high tones and really going for it she can do well. Her problem is she cant sing in front of ppl. Only about 3 or 4 ppl really heard her sing, and im one of them and hear her sing all the time. One time we went to karaoke and she sang, she did whitney houston and she asked some ppl to turn around, it was funny bc ppl started yelling to start singing the song started and she did, it was her singing but they thought it was the recording of whitney houston. I think she is amazing, and would love for her to do what she is passionate about. I try to encourage her to do open mics or even just to sing in front of DH or somebody lol. SHe did make a cd, she has all this equipment at home she uses for recording. My dad took the CD from her lol and thats how alot of others finally heard her sing. My dad couldnt believe it, he always just thought ok maybe she is alright but didnt expect what he heard. Its cute though bc my dad kept the CD and he used to always blast it in his car lol. Ok sorry i went on long about my cousin, just proud of how great she is and just wish she gets over her stage freight.

ETA: she said she finally is going this august, i guess theyre having other auditions for the next season. I promised her i would go with her and id be happy to do it.

wow, that really ***** that talented people don't get through. I guess it just has to do with what they are in the mood to hear. I guess if you go in singing a carrie underwood or kelly clarkson song just like they do, it wont set you apart. The person can have a great voice, but they want different. It's not just the search for someone with a great voice, it's a search for someone who can start something new!

I don't know if I like the new judge yet, I think she is who she is and isn't afraid to let people know what she is thinking, which is great, but I think sometimes she can hurt the contestants feelings.

I loved seeing the one guy drinking out of Paula's cup. As if that water was there for him

I love American Idol, I think it is a rip! I can't imagine though, do they really see all of those people try out that fill the stadiums?!? That really must take forever! I didn't know anyone who auditioned but I knew someone who dated someone who was on it! lol and that was only because DH worked with him. Does that count lol?

yeah, man!! DH gets soooo pissed off everytime we watch because he KNOWS that Naomi is better than pretty much any of those people who got thru to Hollywood You are too, Taryn! You both are awesome and should have made it.

I wonder why they say it was in NY though. Wasn't it in New Jersey?? Are they ashamed to admit that they visited NJ or something?
