and the days just keep getting better lol......

so a couple months back i got a parking ticket for parking in a bus stop that was no longer active....they relocated the bus stop to another street but the little busstop shelter thingy is still there. everyone parks there - there's even a sign that says u can park! So obviously we disputed the ticket. we then got something in the mail that said they still wanted us to pay $90. um no. i was clearly aloud to park in the spot. so this time, we sent in a photo of the bus stop, with cars parked in it, with the parking sign highlighted along with a letter disputing the whole thing. Well i just got a 'judgement enforcement' saying i can either pay almost $200 for the ticket or set up a hearing. SUCH a freakin' PITA. so i have to set up an annoying hearing just to tell the judge that the cop wasn't educated enough or clearly had enough vision to see i was aloud to park in the spot..EVERYTHING i've already done to show i'm not paying this. ..obviously i'm going to get out of the ticket - but the whole process is just so freakin' annoying...oh & in the meantime they can re-posess my car or freeze my bank accounts.....lovely. whatever. i'm just so not in the mood after everything yesterday. THERE ARE CARS PARKED IN THE SPOT EVERY FREAKIN' DAY - THE BUS NO LONGER STOPS THERE - THE STOP IS NO LONGER ACTIVE. how stupid was this cop???

so i just called and spoke with a woman in the finance dept..... after holding for about 40minutes this is what she tells me:

rep: 'Well - i see here that u disputed the ticket, and then the judge mailed you a reduction notice'

me: 'Right - but i'm not paying almost $100 for parking somewhere i'm ALOUD to park...the letter read that if i still disagreed with the settlement that I could mail in another dispute & state why....so i mailed a letter enclosed with photos of the parking sight'

rep: 'Right - well.....um.....after the judge sent you the reduction notice and u refused again, they automatically charge you for the full amount - u have to pay everything and bring the balance to zero - and then appeal it in person for them to credit you the money back'

me:'So the fact that the letter i recieved said i could dispute it again meant nothing, and now i have to pay even more money for something that i was aloud to do otherwise u can seize my car & freeze my bank accounts...all for something that was clearly an error'

'I'm really sorry mam - i understand why you'd be upset over this - but the best thing to do is pay the amount & then appeal in person. honestly i'm tied up right now & can't help you with this.'

IS THIS THE MOST RIDICULOUS PROCESS YOU'VE EVER HEARD?!?!!! Sorry about the last two days being a pity party of me whining. but i've just had enough with all of this crap.

WHAT!!!!!!!!! They want you to pay the ticket so they can take your monye.....and hold it until they feel like giving you a check back for it IDIOTS!!!!!!!!!!

That is the most ridiculous thing I have every heard of. IF you dispute it you dispute it...period-so you shouldnt have to pay for it unless they find that you shouldnt have been parked there!!!

That's SOOOO ANNOYING. Definitely go and dispute that in person and bring as MUCH proof as you can. So freaking crazy!

I KNOW. the whole thing is just ridiculous. i want to go down there but i just dont feel like waiting for god knows how long only for them to tell me the same thing AGAIN. oooh this is gonna be quite the day...'cause we all KNOW that if i actually pay it i'm never going to see that money till lord knows when & u KNOW i'm not gonna get back the full amount i'm gonna try to go down there - i dont even know where the heck i have to go but i'll keep u updated...

okay so i'm gonna go tomorrow - there was another ticket that i have to pay(gotta love queens) so i'm gonna cash my paycheck tomorrow so when i go there i can tell them i'm willing to pay the other amount due...maybe they'll be more willing to help me then lol. but i dont get my paycheck till tomorrow - so tomorrow it is...i'm just gonna get up early & go - wish me luck! and PRAY that i dont flip out on whoever has to deal with me 'cause i know i'm not going to be in the greatest of moods if they tell me the same thing the woman told me on the phone

UGH this happened to a friend of mine with parking by the college-the cops round there are RIDICULOUS. They know we were all college kids in class but they fileld their quotas...I used to go around with pockets ful l of quarters and just start sliding them into random meters when the maids came around.. I used to get a lot of grief lmao like 'Those all ain't your cars girlie!'

Me: THANK You Captain Obvious! SO nice to see my tax dollars are going to YOUR education since mine is being stunted by your asinine need to pull me out of class to feed my meter.'

my DH had a similar experience.. and he IS a cop..lol he parked somewhere that cleary stated he can park... BUT the cop decides to give him a ticket.. he was soooooooo annoyed. he tried everything too... but they didnt give a cr@p.. and it was'nt worth all the hassle, so he ended paying it.

this happened to me too! i had to pay up front and then took myself to downtown manahttan to fight it... and i still lost!!! even though the tsigns were all covered and had pictures to prove, the judges said that there are always two sets of signs on every street so if one sign is covered, i have to still keep walking till i see an uncovered sign.
if u need company on ur way to jamaica, u can let me know. i work pretty close to there. i don't like to blast jamaica since i grew up there but that area is definitely little shady so be careful!

ugh - the whole thing is just so annoying! and in my case, there werent signs hidden or missing - there were signs saying that i COULD park where i was! SO RIDICULOUS! as for jamaica - it's really not to bad...but of course there are those areas that are super sketchy! i'm sure i'll be fine - i've been to the area where it's at & its not too bad. thankyou so much for the offer! but i would never subject you to the hell i'm going to raise lol

I'm sure if there are signs there stating you're allowed to park there, then you have a case.

PITA to have to go down to the courthouse. I've been there.. it's not fun. I went to fight a ticket and they offered me a pleabargain which was 1/2 the amount. But I thought I could fight the ticket once I saw the judge... NOPE. I had to pay the full amount... Couldnt go back & take the plea bargain.

It's like 'Let's make a deal'

Just to claify... it's not the police who give you these tickets... it's b*tches in the dark blue traffic cars

parking tickets are ridiculous...i got one for 'parking outside the lines' at the train station in NHP once...there was SNOW on the ground that morning...so EVERYONE parked out of the lines cause you couldn't SEE them....i went to fight it & was told I'd have to book another hearing date...i never bothered..i told them my time was worth more than their stupid ticket...but i was so angry at the principle!!! Go get 'em!!!
