Annoyed with the hubby!

Ok Ladies, I am venting here. My DH is an awesome guy, but he is too laid back when it comes to our bills. I still have my own account, of which I pay some of 'my' bills. However, we are merging into one account and I am nervous. He pays all his bills online, (which is fine). But then he forgets about bills that are not set up online. He tells me he will take care of certain bills, and then today I get a letter from our car insurance that it will be cancelled b/c it wasnt paid. I freaked out. It's not like we didnt have the money, he just 'forgot'. I have tried buying a mail organizer, but I now realize, I have to do this all myself.

DH kept telling me to relax, but late payments stress me out!

Your husband sounds a lot like me.... that's why I handed everything over to my hubby...
I think he needs to do the same... It'll make both your lives a lot easier..

Maybe it's the name.....I pay all of the bills and take care of finances for us!

But I like it that way because I'm a little OCD when it comes to organizing things.....

If you want, Staples sells a great book for budgeting and keeping track of what's been paid and what needs to be paid.

I think I just need to take over all the finances. I am more concerned with them anyway. I hate being called a 'nag' or 'nervous nelly' ....It is time I take control. As a teacher I am used to being in charge anyway!

I'm the same way. I made up my own checklist to keep in my filofax where i write what i have to pay who, and when, and i check it off as i pay them. (DH thinks im nuts!)

We have separate accounts and a joint bills account.

I keep track of the joint one, mainly because I'm a spaz when it comes to informing him of payments I've made.

So, I pay all the bills with the joint acct, and we each contribute to it every month, with a small cushion for 'I forgot to tell you' checks.

It's worked so far like a charm! For over a year already...so even with all the wedding payments, we never had a boo boo.

And we're responsible for our individual stuff outside of that.

Tell DH that late payments come up on credit reports. That might shake him up a bit!

Or figure out a day/night that he can do all the bills on one day and they'll all be on time and paid. And make sure he sticks to that time frame. That is what I have to do with DH.

I'll be the bill payer in the house but I want him to know how too, in case there's ever a time I cannot do them for any reason.
