Another cruise question.....

Dh is dead set on going on a cruise! Id rather do an all inclusive because I think in the end it will be cheaper.

So my question is, is there a lot of hidden fee's that you only find out about when you are already cruising? I read that they charge you $10-$15pp per day for gratuities and that some of the restaurants on the cruises have cover charges

yeah i knew about the drinks not being included.....this is one of the reasons that I think we should do an all inclusive!! I could go on vacation and have no problem not drinking, but I know Eric will want to drink. But he wants to do 'something different'

Some cruise lines will automatically add a daily charge to your account to cover gratuities, unless you tell them not to. Others, will leave the tipping up to you. Just check with your cruise line about what their policy is.

As a pp said, alcoholic beverages are not included in the cruise price. Some cruise lines offer drink cards for soft drinks and/or alcoholic drinks, where you prepay for a certain number of drinks at a cheaper per drink price.

Also, the cruises usually have casinos on board.

Everytime you turn around, there will be a ship's photographer taking your picture. You are not obligated to buy the pictures, though.

Finally, some of the cruise lines have 'premier' restuarants that do charge a $5-10 pp cover charge. You don't need to eat at those restaurants, though. The food in the regular restaurants is delicious!

Re: Another cruise question.....

Some cruiselines have at least one restaurant that has a cover charge usually it's very small. As for DH and I we are BIG drinkers when we go on cruises so our end of cruise charge is usually the same amount of the original bill. But we have found ways around it. When we stop in a port we fill our water bottles with vodka and bring it back on!!! We bring a small amount in our suitcase when we board. As for the extra service charge you can pay that in advance so you are not hit with it at the end. If you have never been on a cruise I would so go for it. I have been on 4 and had a great time everytime!!!!
