Another Hawaii honeymoon question!
Thanks to everyone who adviced me on what books to buy. I'm definitely going to the book store this weekend. My new question is about the quotes I've been recieving. I've never planned a vacation like this so have no idea what prices I should be expecting. I received quotes from 3 different travel agents so far, and they all seem to be similar. Can you guys tell me if this sounds right?
12 nights, Maui first then Kauai, 6 nights in each (possible changing to 7/5, don't think that should affect the price much).
Only one stopover each way.
Includes inter-island flight, ocean view rooms, convertible on each island.
The hotel choices I gave are just to get an idea of cost, (i'm trying to pay more for a really top-notch hotel in Maui and then a less top-notch in Kauai) are the Grand Wailea, The Westin and the Wailea Marriott in Maui, and the Marriott in Kauai.
All three travel agenst quoted between $6K and $8K, with the GW being the most $, the Westin being next and the WM being the cheapest. Does that sound about right?
Thanks!

Re: Another Hawaii honeymoon question!
we did similar trip to hawaiifor 5/1 to 5/12/2004 we did 6 nights in maui and 4 in kauai. and 1 night in oahu. we did 4 in kauai based on what our friends told us. they said it's lovely and there's a few things to do (ie: sailing up na'pali coast, hiking to waimea canyon, helicopter ride, and driving up or down the other coast) but depending on what you want to do, 4 or 5 days seemed adequate to us.
we stayed at the hyatt on maui and kauai and at the outrigger on the beach in oahu (it's nice but not a 4 star hotel). we rented a mid-sized car in maui, a convertible in kauai and no car in oahu.
we had one layover going there. direct on flight home (we flew to and from newark airport). and had interisland flights.
that was all for $6000. So expect to pay more if staying at the Four Seasons hotel, or you want a Jeep on both islands, etc.
We booked our activities with Aloha Destinations (CherylBooch recommended them) so those prices weren't included in our quote from the travel agency. But I believe some will book them for you (note that most activities (big ones like luau, drive up volcano, boat excursions) should be reserved at least 3-4 weeks in advance).
