Re: Another QOTD - Dealing w. Stress

Stress used to get me sick, too! Mostly in the form of anxiety and panic attacks. But I also had the shingles once, too. So I had therapy. It truly makes a difference. It changed my life.

Re: Another QOTD - Dealing w. Stress

I internalize alot- which is terrible. When I focus on actively reducing my stress, I usually do something mindless like watching Food TV or going for a walk. What stresses me most is the constant racing of my mind with worries, so I try to quiet it by zoning out. The worst times are the middle of the night - no escaping it then!

writing helps me too - I used to be pretty active at keeping a journal recording the trials and tribulations of a long distance relationship. I find I tend to write more when I'm upset. Over the last few years, the journal has come out less and less often. Which is too bad since I'd like a record of the happy times too, but I'm not inspired to write then...

Gosh Lisa, it is so amazing how much what you just wrote is SO MUCH like me! I am the same way.

But, sometimes I need a good cry...and to me, there's no better stress relief than I good 'Pajama Day' where I allow myself to do nothing!

Jodi..

Claud, I find that pajama days leave me feeling worse!! I often feel icky and bored and like I wasted the whole day, and end up feeling more funky than before. But I've always envied people who can truly enjoy a 'pajama day.'

Re: Another QOTD - Dealing w. Stress

When Im really stressed, I actually come on here to see that other women are going through the same things.

I also like I take a hot shower, snuggle up on the couch with my remote or just take a nap. I am one of those people who loves sleep and uses it as a way to escape things (not that good to do but this is me).

Recently since everything that has been going on, I cry and cry. Its a great release.

Re: Another QOTD - Dealing w. Stress

It depends on what I am stressing over. If it is a work thing and I am truly stressed I take one of those 'me days' off and perhaps a new pair of shoes will help me feel better.

If I am having a just a bad day due to no real reason I might have a cup of tea and watch a movie or take out my knitting (which is a never ending project) or do a crafty thing.

If it is $$ that is causing stress..well I am not good with that and I usually stay stressed for a while.

I also find having my home in order..meaning I hate papers and reciepts etc...all over my coffee table or in my 'mail basket' etc..so the ONLY solution for me is to clean and with my compressed nerve that is hard so poor Scott gets a Please Help Me list and as I see it getting more organzed my stress level decreases quickly.

I find bubble baths help, Yoga is GREAT and a massage is the BEST!!! When all else fails a cup of tea with a friend is always good medicine IMO.
