any bets on whether the LIRR will be running tomorrow?

doing limited service on the Port Washington only right now, the rest of the lines are suspended in both directions.

What do we think the chances are of them being operational by tomorrow?

dh and I very stupidly left the house today and it is sooooo much worse than we thought! main roads were still really bad and snow drifts are outta control!

my guess is limited service at best. after seeing the drifts first hand - there is no way they're going to be able to totally clear the tracks!

Keeping my fingers crossed that it's running. I have to get in to work. I don't want to have to use vacation time.

main roads by me are all clear!

I'm sure they'll have it up and running by tomorrow.

I dont know. My husband keeps checking. Hes going to be up at 4am to see. Today was the only day his company has ever taken off (because no one could get in to work).

He;s saying he will drive in tomorrow if it's not running, but that makes me worried. It;s not worth it. ughhhhh hate this weather!

anyone going in? only 4 branches working on hourly service. PLUS DELAYS!!! it's going to be a zoo!!

DH waited about 90 minutes for the train b4 he decided to come back home

I was at Farmingdale station for an hour, the website says trains every half hour (8:07, 8:36) when in actuality there is a train every hour, which was then delayed due to a tractor trailer stalled on the track...



and I just realized there is no east bound service, so I have no clue how i will get home

I normally take the Babylon branch but DH works near Port Washington so he drove me to that station this morning.

I was there for about 1 hr before a train showed up (around 8:30 am). Another guy on the platform told me he had been waiting since 5:45 am for that train. I didn't get into Penn Station till almost 10:30 am and into my office until 11 am (near Grand Central).

Hope my commute home tonight isn't too crazy.

SO GLAD I made the decision to just STAY home. I usually drive to the A train (i work in brooklyn, live in queens) but on a day like this would take LIRR.and of course the line i would take is not runnning.

i got up and had my coffee and was thinking of hitting up the port washington line but it was hard to know when a train would be there. and after hearing people waited hours for NO train.. im so glad i didnt bother.

hope eastbound trains are running later for those of you who need to get back home!! guess ill give it another try tomorrow!

Dino waited an hour this morning...4:54 to 5:54....then came home. Im glad. He would have had a miserable day. His boss was stuck in BK and so were other coworkers.

why the helll arent we move prepared for this? it snows every winter.

I had a super fun commute this morning too.

I took the train from RVC, and had to wait about 30 minutes for a train to show up. It was completely full. No one got on. 3 more trains show up within the next hour, all full.

I took a train east to baldwin, got on a train there around 9am, made it into work about 10:20ish.

Commute normally takes 1 hour door to door.

Tonight i am taking train to Great Neck where hubby works and driving home with him.

I'm just hoping east bound service starts up soon, right now the Ronkonkoma line has no east bound service..
