So i'm on the nuva ring and i was supposed to take it out last Sunday (i thought i was supposed to take it out today). Anyway, I just took out the old one and put in the new one in b/c i wasn't sure what I should do. Usually you take it out for a week and then the Sunday after your period you put it back in....
Have any of you had a similar experience or any advice??

sorry to butt in... im on it, and my doctor tells me all of the time that the ring has enough hormone in it for 4 weeks, so if i ever want to not have my period, i can leave it in..so im guessing ur a-okay. (ive even left it out for 12+ hrs and everything was okay)

so you took it out a week after you were supposed to? so it was in for a month and a week? and you just put in a new one - are you trying to skip your pd? sorry, just a little confused - it should be in for 3 weeks and then out for a week.
i've left it in longer than I should only when I wanted to skip my pd. I was usually a little more cautious during the time though.
ETA: sorry, I meant to ask if it's been in for 4 weeks, not 5

you need to have it out for a week to stop the hormones so your period will come, if you continue to use the ring the hormones will keep you period from starting....
that said you can put off your period if you wish and leave in the new one.....example is seasonale where you only get your period 4 times a year....
so its up to you.....you can take it out now and get your period or you can leave it in and go through the cycle of the new one and then get your period

I was supposed to take it out last sunday (i had it marked on my calendar) but for some reason, the 22nd was in my head as the day to take it out. So i didn't take it out last sunday b/c i thought it was supposed to come out today. I wasn't trying to skip my period. it was a totally flakey move on my part.
I jsut spoke to my friend and she said it's ok, i just wont get my period this month. and i'll us other protection just in case.

ooh got it. yeah I agree, you are fine. but to be safe i would be cautious just like you said b/c i'm paranoid.

Thanks. now that it is in, i'm going to leave it in. I don't feel so scared now. i thought i was the only idiot that forgot to take it out. lol
Also, to answer snbw, it was in for 4 weeks.

Sounds like you figured it out. I almost did the same thing the first month I was on it and then I looked at my calendar and remembered. It's so easy to forget about it.

I love it. I was on the pill for years and had a really hard time remembering it and so I always used a back-up method. It's really nice to not have to remember anything except to take it out and put it in. I rarely even feel it so I don't even think about it. Plus my periods have been 3 days and even lighter. I would recommend talking to your gyn.
