Any good but inexpensive all-inclusives in the dominican republic?

I'm already planning our one-year anniversay trip and assuming I'm not preggers I want to go away to somewhere warm. I'd love to go back to Sandals in St. lucia but I think it may be out of our price range. My dad says the dominican republic is a bit cheaper. Anyone ever gone?

Just as a point of reference....Our sandals trip was around $6500 for 10 days including air.

We are going to Secrets Excellence Punta Cana, Dominical Republic for 5 days 4 nights for our Honeymoon and it is costing us $2700 we went for the most expensive room though.

This is an all inclusive

We're going there too, Jessica! Only we'll be there in March. I believe the entire package including airfare cost around $2500 or so...

ETA: We'll be gone 6 days 5 nights (I think) and we chose this over Sandals St. Lucia for exactly the same reason (i.e., cost). Also, I've heard the least expensive Sandals in St. Lucia is a bit rundown these days...

we stayed at Melia Caribe for $1900 for the both of us, and got back a $100 America Express gift card for putting it on the card.
It is in Punta Cana. It is one of the most beautiful resorts I have been to.
It is very big, and really not too much to do, but it was nice

I heard excellent things about Sectrets Excellence on this board and from co-workers.

I have stayed at the Iberostars and recommend them. I really like this chain. In particular the Iberostar Bavarro. They are reasonable and nice.

This is a great resort review website for DR:

We stayed at the Coral Costal Caribe in Santo Domingo, and it was beautiful. We had 7 days six nights, all inclusive plus airfare for $1400 total...I still cannot believe that deal I booked through American Airlines vacations, and since I booked really early we got a discount.
The Coral resorts are a chain, all are really nice and all inclusive. The Caribe also had a casino, which we went to every night. Gambling w. pesos is such fun, the exchange rate is 16:1. I thought I hit the jackpot and had about $5 american dollars

I think the Dominican Republic is a secret Caribbean getaway. The sun and surf there is unbelievable and you can't beat the hotel prices. I recommend going to Punta Cana. DR has been a popular spot for European tourists in the past. I think you will enjoy it.

We are also doing Secrets in March...7 nights, basic room and everything cost us $3538, including insurance on the trip. We used Liberty travel. It includes EVERYTHING!

Secrets

Marcellabella went here also and LOVED it

I haven't been but my mother got quoted some prices from AAA travel (same as the AAA roadservice) and she said they were inexpensive.
