OK because I am in planning withdrawal we have decided to throw a 60th birthday party for my Mom (she totally deserves it)
The problem-- i want to do it in a knights of columbus type place but am having lots of trouble finding any..so I thought of you guys-- did anyone have an engagment party in a hall? most likely will be a little over 100 people and we would like to bring in our own caterer(unless their food is amazing) we are pretty open to any part of the island(Mom lives out in Coram, also have family in Nassau-so anything is fine)
any help would be great

Laura,
This is a Knights of Columbus in Seaford. We are going to a wedding there in October. When is your mom's bday?

I went to a wedding at the K of C in Patchogue, which was pretty, but the food was less than memorable. If they let you bring in your own caterer it would be much better, but I'm not sure if that i san option. It's worth looking into.
Also, the VFW in Centereach is nice for a 60th birthday party. It's not as formal looking as the K of C, but I don't know anything about their caterers.
I also went to an engagement party at the Coram firehouse which was nice inside. I don't think they have a caterer.
Lastly, my friend had her daughter's christening at Michael's in Sayville. It is on the smaller side and very cozy, and although I left early and didn't get to eat, I heard the food was very good.
Hope that helps! : )

Try the Milleridge Inn restaurant. Not the catering hall but the restaurant. I heard their prices are not as high as the hall and the food is very good.

Thanks ladies-- I will look into the ideas-- we are sort of against a restaurant because we want everyone to feel like they can get up and move around-- we also want to get a dj--there will be a lot of little ones as well so the more room the better
but keep the ideas coming

I know there is a big one in Flushing off of Northern Blvd. It has smoked glass on the walls and a dance floor and bar. It's really nice for a Knights of Columbus. Our frined had their college graduation party there with almost 100 people. Hope this helps.

;-)
This is worse than planning a wedding-- with the wedding we went into the cottage fell in love with it and booked it--My cousin says its because we had no budget with the wedding and now with the party we are trying to keep costs down---
wedding planning was more fun ;-)
Thanks for all the suggestions
