I *think* and i'm not sure you'd have to call either place to find out but starbucks and home depot might offer health insurance for part timers. SIL worked at lowe's PT and they offered her health insurance but it's in NC, not sure if the rule are different here.

Yes, if you apply for a 'College Assistant' at any CUNY (working for the city) college you will be eligible for GHI Insurance ...I worked there throughout my college years...the pay isnt great though it can be from $10-15 an hour'

You will be doing minor office work etc...

Cuny jobs

I also worked as a CUNY college assistant through college - it did offer benefits if you worked a minimum of 20 hours a week.

Have you looked into the Freelancers Union - I know they offer a group health plan for those who are self-employed. Knew a few people who were covered under that.

Starbucks give benefits at 20 hours a week, or 80 hours a month I believe

Something similar to this I think is LIA - Long Island Alliance - if you are a member you can get health insurance I think ... not 100% sure but my dentist told me about it a while ago since at the time DH was self employed and had no insurance - he was my FH then..

This is good to know -- if I get laid off I will need benefits asap!
