FM me
the laxative prep is by far the worst part, but i've heard that has been much improved since my colonoscopy 6 years ago.

If they give you a drink called go lightly dont let the name fool you there is nothing light about it....the prep stinks...they need the colon clean/empty but the procedure itself most of the time they make you go to sleep for and really no discomfort afte rb ut I would watch the greasy food etc for a few days because of how eager your body may still be to go

thanks girls as always for your responses. I have to drink Colyte starting tomorrow at 5...the procedure is Monday at 845, nice and early at least. The part I can't get past honestly is the IV. I usually get that cold, clammy, going to faint feeling whenever I get bloodwork done, so I'm really afraid of that (irrational, I know, but I can't help myself ). Other than that, I think I would be ok...

Sorry to crash but thought I could help...I had one done 2 years ago. I had to drink the stuff the night before too. THe prep is the absolute worst part of the entire ordeal. Make sure you drink lots of water and clear gatorade. I didnt drink enough and I ended up passing out in the middle of the night when I went to go to the bathroom lol. FH found me on the floor. Hahaha. Also, as for the IV that was the part I was most afraid of. They couldnt get it in and finally the anasethesiologist (spelling stinks) just gave me a local anaesthetic in my hand and put it in there. It was fine. Ask if they can do that for you too. SO much easier. Hang in there...feel free to FM if you have any questions! Good luck and I hope everything is ok!

i've had 5 or 6 of them, i've lost count. the procedure is a breeze, the prep *****. i've never had to do the colyte prep, i've always had to do fleets phospho something. my dad does colyte and it's 'better', end result still the same. if you want mre details fm me. i've had this done so many times i could probably perform the procedure!

Thanks, I just don't think I am going to be able to make it another 22 hours without eating. I could cry right now I'm so hungry...I can't imagine if I would've done this and had to work today, I would've never made it

I'm having a colonoscopy this Saturday at 6:30AM. All day Friday, I have to take clear liquids. On Friday at 4PM, I have to take 2 Reglan tablets. Then, I have to add a bottle of Miralax (over-the-counter) to a 64 oz bottle of diet Snapple (I bought iced tea) and drink it all in 30 minutes, starting at 5PM. Then, at bedtime, I have to take 4 Culcolax (over-the-counter) tabs. I am really not looking forward to this.....

Make sure they put you to sleep. I had a pretty severe stomach disorder so i had a few of them. dont ask me why but the first time they kept me awake. it was the worst pain and i wound up screaming and cursing at the Dr for everyone including my parents to hear in the waiting room . Afterwards you fart loud and long. Its actually pretty funny after that terrible procedure

Well, I did it! This morning when I woke up I actually thought I might bail out, but then I realized that would mean that I drank all that c rap for nothing! Anyway, I explained to them that I was very very nervous for the IV. Well, of course the first time they couldn't get the needle in the right spot, so they had to move to the other arm. After that, I was literally mid sentence and the next thing I knew, they were waking me up! I felt no pain after, and I sure as heck went to have my blueberry pancakes from IHOP Thank you again to everyone for your words of support and encouragment...I couldn't have done it with out you!
