Any Tax people who want to help me? I'll make u a cake?
Hi Ladies...
We went yesterday to get our taxes done finally (The guy cancelled twice on us)
He mentioned that next year since we will be paying for our child to be watched while I am at work we are able to write this off?
I was having some issues yesterday so I didnt ask many questions and now I'm worried I won't be doing the right thing-
He mentioned something about needing her SS# etc...
If anyone can help, please let me know... .We will begin to pay her in August, and I would like to do things right so that she knows how to do her taxes, and I know how to go about mine...

The babysitter will need to agree to have taxes taken out of her pay and claim her pay as income as well. That's why you need the sitters tax ID#. I know a lot of babysitters won't do this. Also, some work places have a program similar to health care and transit where they will take the money out pretax from your paycheck and you can use the money to pay the sitter, that way you are saving on paying the taxes on it but it still needs to be claimed.

I used to babysit a girl while the mother worked (single mom) and this job was like any other 'real' job. I had taxes taken out of my monthly check and when I had to file my own taxes, this woman gave me a W-2. So, when I got the job she needed all of my info like any other employer would need.
ETA: This woman was a client of my mom and dad's accountants so I would see an accountant for help.

Thank you ladies the sitter would be my mother, she needs two more years before retirement...and since she has decided to quit in order for us to continue to work, we wanted to help her best we can...
They said they needed my moms ss#, not the babies for something

Yes since you are paying the mom, (baby sitter) or whoever, all you need is her Full name, address and her SS# and how much you paid her, keep a record, and your good!
