We have our appt next week - I'm not looking forward to it though. I usually get money back, but don't feel like I'll be that lucky this year....

I'm dreading it, Rich told Nicole's mother she could claim her this year-so there goes one dependent. We are screwed I know it.

Usually we each get about 400-500 back every year as singles, and this year filing joint we only get back $225. Guess it's better than nothing!

NO! I do owe, possibly. DH has been putting it off until his stupid brother returned from his 3 week trip. He's back now and we still have not done it. I have money stashed away for taxes and I need to see if we really need it and I can use that money to pay my bills instead. When I was single, I ALWAYS had my taxes done by now and in the past- would have received a refund already ( not this year!) if it were not for stupid BIL being away for 3 weeks again.

I am worried too, we have an appt March 4th so I will let you know then. November, do you have a house together already? See, we don't and that is why I think we will get screwed, we don't own anything but we still don't make that much either. All of my friends who got married, files their taxes and then went out and bought houses because they owed....I am worrying about that for us too...

You know you can file separately. Last year if I filed separtaely I would have got back about $2,000, but he would have owed a lot. So we did it jointly and only owed $200. I hope we do ok this year.

Our appt. is on March 3rd, so I won't know for sure until then....BUT, we had our little *deduction* last year, so maybe we'll clean up! LOL!

Owning the house really helps. But if you do your taxes as if you were both still single you will see a difference- and would probably NOT owe. Another reason that our gov't is full of it. They preach family values but living together is cheaper!

so far we owe about $3k!
this ****s big time. Last year we got almost that much back.
we're getting royally s-crewed because of the marriage penatly and severance combo. Perhaps I should run it as married filing separate and see if that helps...

If that calculation is right... we'll be OK. I was worried.... but I guess that we may be OK because he did not make very much on the books last year.... so I will keep my fingers crossed & hope for the best!
Edited to add that: I went ahead & calculated for next year tax time.... & we will end up owing if it is right, because of the salaries combined.
