How bad is it???? I was told it can be really bad.
I am coming from the Cross Island (Union Turnpike Exit) and going to Rockaway Blvd. I just need to know how much time ot leave myself in the morning.

I have to be there by 8:00 am. I was told it isn't as bad because I am traveling the opposite way????

It bl0ws either way!! I would go with Google maps and get their estimated time for your point to point directions and add 30 minutes to that time. If you have plenty of time, then cut it back by 10 minutes and try that. See if that will work. Going southbound in the morning is not as bad as northbound, but it is still a nightmare!! Good luck!

I don't think it would be too bad since you have to be there at 8AM (versus 9AM).....but if traffic is really bad on the Belt, you can always get off on the N. Conduit exit instead (which I think is maybe 5 exits sooner than Rockaway?)- its the service road to the Belt.
ETA- I'd say on average it would take you a half hour.

The traffic is the worstttt at 8 am!!! So you should be good leaving at 7:15-7:30. I live in queens and travel to valley stream around that time and i fly!!!!! But i do notice traffic on the other side (your side). But not as bad as 8 am!!!! I would leave early one just to be on the safe side until you know the traffic!!!
