the past 2 years he cooked me the most romantic dinners. We talked about how he was going to make something really good & different this year. I called him when I was leaving work to ask when i should come home & he said he forgot to buy the food I was so mad & mostly disapointed. We just had a big screaming fight & I realized he has a lot on his mind at work & there are things he didn't talk about with me that he had to take care of this week so I guess I understand but still yet, it's our first valentines day married

I understand....My DH actually took today off from work and has been traveling for weeks. I had this big elaborate dinner planned and he was send to Germany yesterday.....THere goes dinner.... I was soooo upset but it's out of his control
I can understand your frustration and I hope that you can forgive him and still have a wonderful night. Be happy that you guys are healthy adn together. There are so many women that don't have their DH with them today for work reasons, military etc!
Enjoy your night!

that's very true. After I get so mad I always think of how stupid it is to get so upset over these things when there are some poor people that are really suffering. I just had to get it out to get over it

Actually this year really put things in perspective for me. DH isnt around because he's in the field training. He also wont be here for our anniversary this year because he'll be in Ranger school. He'll also miss my birthday because he's going to be deployed. I realized this year that holidays are just holidays -- they dont NEED to be celebrated on the actual DAY of the holiday. It doesnt matter if they miss them, or forget, or dont get you what they want. There are 364 other days of the year that they show they love you in other ways. A stupid made-up holiday shouldnt make you upset if they miss it.
There are just so many more important things in life than getting upset over a holiday. Although I was a little disappointed when I knew DH wouldnt be here for Valentines Day, I thought 'okay...I'll make a special little dinner for us for friday night when he comes home from the field' -- not a big deal. Its just a holiday. And if your DH forgot the food....so what? Celebrate tomorrow night. Or order chinese food in and have a little romantic take-out dinner and watch a movie.

No, but I dissapointed him by being a b!tch. We agreed that since we are on budget, we would just exchange cards and get each other 2 scratch offs and go to dinner. I ended up getting DH a choc. reese heart that ate on the way home (so mad at myself cause I've been doing so good-but I had an argument w/someone at work), a borders gift card and a scratch off. When I got home, there was a Vermont Teddy bear w/chocolates. I yelled at DH and said 'Why didn't you send that to the office. I could've used it there. I had such a bad day. I then said 'why did you spend so much $$'. He had such a look on his face. I felt so bad. It turns out that the bow tie on the bear is broken so we are going to try to return it to get a refund. I really feel bad for yelling at DH, but I have a bad tooth ache too. We also ended up canceling our dinner plans and just got take out. I told him we will make up the night in two weeks when we go out to dinner to celebrate our 6 month anniversary.
