I'm going to one tonight, basically only because DH's aunt is the hostess, and for the Sangria...I have no intention to buy anything, it's not really my taste, and the pieces I did like were mad expensive!
Supposedly like 28 people were invited, and I don't know how many are actually coming...I have no idea how long these things run. 2 hours? 3? I'd love to to be home by 9:30 to relax, but I'm not sure if that'll happen if it starts at 7...

I’ve been to one… the sales pitch part only took like 15 mins and then we were able to look at all the stuff they had there and look through the catalogue. It was all of my friends though so we just hung out for a while… but if you didn’t want to stay around afterwards you could prob be in and out in an hour.

Hmm....that doesn't sound too bad. Except that I'm going in the same car with MIL, GMIL, and SIL, and the party is at their sister/daughter/aunt's....so I think I'm stuck till the very end and probably later!

I've been to several and even hosted one. Depending on the crowd would depend on how long you're there.
Is there anyway you can not go in the same car? Maybe say you're not feeling well and you'd rather take your own car 'just in case' you need to leave early?

I had one and lvoed it! The sales part is no big deal..the jewelry is pretty adn it was just a fun thing to do!

If you actually go to a party, is there an underlying assumption that you will buy something? Because I do like this necklace...just not the $78 price tag!
I just don't want to seem like I came for the booze and dessert haha, even though that's pretty much the case.

No, the one I went to I don’t think anyone would have noticed if I bought anything or not. And esp if there’s going to be 28 people there… you should be fine.
I bought two things at the one I went to, but I think they were only like $30 each.

That is a pretty necklace! Even though it is costly, you should see what kind of specials they have.
Sometimes when you buy more than one piece and average it out, it's 'reasonable'.
I have a ton of pieces but a lot of them I got with my hostess credit and because of some of the specials.
And I agree...with 28 people there, who will notice if you buy something or not?
Or....if you have anyone's birthdays coming up buy a piece that is reasonable and gift it away!

No I never went to one of the parties.. but I did buy my sister a necklace from them that I lovvvvve and I want to steal from her.

I think you have to buy something, but that's just me. I went to a Lia Sophia party and thought I would hate everything and I wound up spending $100! They usually have some kind of deal - buy one get one 50% off or something like that.

Well, much to my surprise I did end up liking something, and HD's aunt offered to get it under one of her hostess specials, so I only had to pay 15 bucks for this bracelet!
I just love my leopard print lol. I really liked the Tahitian pearl necklace too, but I couldn't justify spending $84 on it, or even half that in the special., and I'd rather spend the $15 on something I'd get more use of like the bracelet.

I have the Tahitian Pearl Necklace and it's one of my favorites. I wear it all the time (kinda worth it if you get it at a discount). Although since I've hosted a party mine was free.
