Why is it that last year I was only married for a few months and got a way with filing single and we got back over 5 grande for our son, and now this year my tax guy said we can get in trouble if we file single because we cant prove we're not living together when we've been married over a year and now this year we're getting back less than 2 grande. Why do you get so much more as a single parent???

Re: Anyone familiar with tax refunds?
Do you mean filing separately? You can do that being married. Our tax guy is going to see which way we will get more money back if we file separately or joint. You can't list that you are single because you are married.

Re: Anyone familiar with tax refunds?
he said we can file seperatly marrried and one of us can claim head of house hold but we would have to say we're not living together to get more back for the baby if we file jointly married we wont get anywhere near as much back
