anyone going back to school or currently in school changing careers?
With 2009 almost here, one of my goals is to go back to school... looking for a career change...
Anyone else doing the same in 2009 (or already in school now)?
What are you studying? What is the career change you're making?

I'm in school now for my MBA... have no idea if i'm changing careers but I might eventually, if and when we have kids not sure I want to do this forever. But not in the near future since work is paying for school.

I do plan to go back to school this year, was hoping for spring but kinda too late so might even start doing summer sessions. Would like to eventually get my MBA

I NEED to go back to school. Hopefully soon! money is tight right now and with the house I can not afford not to work or work part time! SO hopefully we will be in a better situation in a few months. I want to get my masters or go back for nursing.

there are some online programs now too; I always wonder about them but i don't think i can do it online.
one way to start is by studying for the GMAT... not an easy test (for me); I took it 3 times in five years before I even attempted to apply.

it is so funny you mentioned this bc i was thinking about that lol. But the same thing, i just dont know if i should do that. But just yesterday i was thinking about that. Was even wondering if I take classes where you physically go and then do 1 online class to make it full time incase i can only go at night.

i've actually made some GREAT friends in b-school so looking back i'm glad i am doing it this way; plus NYU didn't have an online program and this is where i was 'expected' to go by work. so that's one thing to keep in mind... there's definitely a fun, social aspect even in the part time programs.
this girl I know is going to NYIT, I forget for what exactly, and some is online and some are in class. that sounds interesting too.

I am. I started in fall 07. I'm working on my second masters. This one is to be a elementary school teacher. Big difference than the corporate world that I've been in way too long.

yeah if I were to do it, I wouldnt do all classes online. Lets say I do most of my credits by going and then need just 1 more class for the semester, I would add an online class to it but thats the only thing I would do as far as online classes go.

While I'm not sure about '09, Debi is anxiously awaiting to see if her job ends in June or July. Her next step was to return to college, perhaps Millersville State U, get her Masters and become a school Guidance Counselor. She interned in a local H.S. Guidance Dept. while at Penn State. Mary MOB
Currently Debi has a BS in Human Dev. and Family Studies, and works for a non-profit.

I went to NYIT for my bachelors and some programs are available completely online and some are in the classroom. A lot of classes in my major were distance learning classes-Manhattan and Old Westbury campuses were basically video conferenced. A few of those classes we went to the actual class one day and then the rest was online-the class is normally 2 days a week. It wasn't less work but it was nice not to commute an hour for one class.
