Anyone have Aetna HMO insurance?
Just wondering what your experience has been. MY DH has a couple of choices of healthcare and this is looking like a good option. Thanks

Re: Anyone have Aetna HMO insurance?
I have it right now.I did have a priomary care physician, and he was listed in the book as being a member, but he did not take it, and they would never update the book. He stopped taking them because he said he was sick of not getting paid. So make sure you call your current doctors to make sure that they still carry them. Other then that, they are pains in the arse with BC pills. I needed a not from my Dr. saying that i was on them for medical reasons not just for BC purposes.

Re: Anyone have Aetna HMO insurance?
Aetna is a big pain. What are the other choices. My husband to switched from HIP (which is so so) to a Multiplan local something or other, and I've been getting bills from everywhere. Not only does Aetna not pay, but their rates keep going up, so even if the company your husband works for has them now, it could change...again. Be careful. My mom is a medical biller and she's like an expert (lol) with this stuff. And she said my insurance su**ks too.

Re: Anyone have Aetna HMO insurance?
Here are the choices:Aetna HMO or First Health PPO.
Aetna HMO is about $250 a month for family rate including me, husband and children (which we don;t yet have). No deductibles. Typical HMO
First Health is $150 a month for family and we have a $500 deductible before the coverage kicks in. Then we pay 20% of all charges.
HMO would be $3000 a year
PPO would be $1800 plus minimum $500 out of pocket=$2300. But then we have to pay 20% of any other bills plus the deductible.
Considering we are sort of TTC right now, we will assume we will pay 10% of the hospital bill that could be about $8000, so maybe $800 out of pocket.
I just don't know what the lesser of two evils is!

Re: Anyone have Aetna HMO insurance?
I did had it for some time when my company switched health insurance. From my experience, it was a pain. It was such a hassle to submit claims for my doctors. I'd paid the co-pays and Aetna sent a letter to me that my co-pays were never paid... Long story. That was about 1 or 2 1/2 years ago.Our company now has United Healthcare. It's okay. Before United Healthcare and after Aetna we had PHS. I liked PHS the best. A lot of doctors who I go to accepted this plan, it was hassle free. Many of the doctors where I went did not accept Aetna or the doctors were not good.

The ONLY good thing about the PPO plan is that you don't need a referral which is a huge pain (from what I remember). Otherwise take the HMO planWelcome New Vendors
