Hubby is considering getting office space there and I'm wondering if anyone knows what kind of neighborhood it is off-hours (mostly post-rush hour)..Thanks!

It's been a while since I was in the area, but I think it's mixed. I recall that one of the manufacturers we represented had a plant there, and I was told that you would not want to go there unless you had a car take you direct to the parking lot and wait for you. On the other hand, I used to live in Astoria, out near Ditmars, and technically that was considered Long Island City postal zone, although the warehouse areas still looked pretty rough. I know that around Queensborough plaza there were some areas where a lot of ladies of the evening hung out too. Best advice is to cruise around after hours and see what it looks like right near the office space. Maybe talk to some of the other tenants too.

It does depent. MetLife just took up office space in the area, and Citibank has a building there. Some of the TV/Film studios are also in that area. LIC is a pretty large area, although what's usually considered LIC is the more industrial part w/ lots of factories. There are some part that have strip joints and others that are fine. I'd take Karen's advice and drive by after dark. It'll give you an idea of the area.
