i have a baby shower tomorrow & all my friend wants is diapers - its her 3rd kid so shes kinda over all the clothes lol
so i thought a diaper cake would be cute... can anyone give me a step by step guide on how to make them? of give me a GOOD web site to refer to?? also - how many diapers do i need??

OMG My Aunt makes great ones. Diaper and Towel Cakes. Sorry I don't know how she does it, but they are amazing. I know there is a website that sells them if you don't want to make it. Baby Shower Stuff

its sooo easy just roll up the diapers and make circles over and over again- i find it easy to wrap four diapers together use a string to hold them in place and then continue on making circles until the diameter is what you want it to be- when you are ready put the pretty ribbon and make a bow (or not) and keep making circles of diapers (smaller or larger diamteters) i know it sounds confusing but its really really easy!!!

I made this one for my cousins shower.. it was ahuge hit...plus it was 210 diapers!
a little closer
It was super simple and not very expensive.
babies r us get a box of diapers staples- bag of thin rubberbands ac-moore (with lots of 40% off Coupons from online)- clothes pins, ribbon, dolies, rectangle cardboard cake board, rattles (go to the baby shower section they come in pretty large packages.
you need 3 shirt boxes (white) in 3 different sizes. the dollar store has or go to a clothing store and ask for some for free!
Roll each diaper and hold it with a rubberband (i had been doing it with curling ribbon what a pain in the arse.. and it only dawned on me AFTER i was done to use rubber bands) this allows her to be able to use each diaper..where if you taped them she wouldntbe able to and place them in the shirt box standing straight up. you will have to cut the sides of the box a little depending on the size of the diapers.
once each layer is filled. hot glue 1st layer of ribbon to the white side of the box. With the second layer only place a few sparatic dots of glue and use the little clothes pins to hold the rest in place.
glue the doilies to the the cake board to make it look pretty (make sure they hang off the edges) place the bottom layer on to make sure the doilies show. and do the same for all the layers. decorate as desired!!

I made a diaper cake for FH's cousin (who is in labor as I write this)
I rolled diapers individually then used a big rubber band to hold 'layers'together. I ended up using ribbon to cover rubber bands. Then I decorated it with clothes and other baby stuff.
Here it is all wrapped up. Whatever diapers I didn't use, I put back in the box and wrapped the box.
I have to say though that I've made a towel cake and of course now a diaper- and I'd much rather make a towel cake any day.
Oh and here is her super cool baby shower cake! Just to show it off...

Those are so cute ladies!! Diaper cakes are huge hits at showers!! My friend is working on a diaper cake in the shape of a bunny for me to add to my friends shower gift- which is a gift certificate of a 3 months supply of diapers!!
