There are no more country stations in the NYC area so Im completely deprived of listening to new music. I try to catch CMTV on cable but I never watch enough to catch up soo..
Are there any new country songs that you guys suggest for downloading?

Stef...I get 92.5 which is a country station in CT but it comes in the best when I get out further east on the Island. I think we are in the minority of those that like it but I love it for a change! I watched the CMA's and love Toby Keith's new song 'Who's Your Daddy' and Rascal Flats...can't remember the name of the song, sorry, and Mongomery Gentry's 'My Town'...these are artists I don't normally listen to so I liked these new songs. Shania's new song 'Getcha Good' is good too.

Stef, girl I totally agree! When I was in California, I had TWO great country stations to choose from and now I am so sad! I LOVE country - in fact, I'm the reason that Michele is hooked - and now I am deprived of one very simple enjoyment in my life.
I feel like I don't even know what songs are current in the country genre.

I'm a big country fan....and very bummed about there being no station anymore in NY , I will have to try to get 92.5. I don't have DTV either so I am really really out of touch with the newest artists. At least I got to see the music awards the other night. I love the Dixie Chicks but I don't care for the new album, I was very disappointed after loving almost every track on the first 2 albums. I agree, that Montgomery Gentry song is very good. I wish I knew some new songs, I'll wait to hear if anyone has any suggestions.

I just started getting into country music the last few years and I love the Dixie Chicks. I have all the albums and I really love their new CD -- sorry you don't like the new one Elizabeth.
But I'm in North Carolina and it's a bit easier to get a country station in down here LOL.
I like that 'Whose Your Daddy' that was the first time I heard it on the CMA awards. I also like a few songs by Toby Keith. I love (only know song not artist) 'I Wanna Talk about Me', 'Kiss This' they are so funny. I really used to hate country but now I'm so sick of listening to the same #$^# on the radio I tune into the country station more and more.

Sorry to crash your newlywed board but I just had to chime in on this one! Living in Dallas, I have come to love country music. If you can listen online at work, go to www.995thewolf.com. It is a great station that actually won the award for best station at the CMA's. Good stuff! Plus...check out the new Rascal Flats song. I can't remember the name ...but it's good.

That Rascal Flatts song is 'These Days'...and I love the Dixie Chicks new CD...it is different than their other stuff but I love Natalie's voice.
I was so upset the day that they changed 94.3 to 80's (although I like that music too)...it was like no warning and I turned on the radio and I said what happened to my country!!!

I love Country Music and miss CMT on Direct TV and only get 92.5 sometimes. My dad loves country music also, so he has been making me CD's since my computer is set up yet. I suggest looking on some websites like Billboard and the CMT website has a current list.

I suggest u get a hold of the NFL country CD its a few years old but a few good ones!! toby keith and troy aikman sing together and jason sehorn from the giants sings this boogie back to texas song (he is from there I guess) a lot of good songs on there and they are funny also has the boys are back in town, w/ Avenzano from dallas (he can sing good too!!) as for Troy well, I am an aikman fan but he shouldnt quit his day job :-))

I have AOL7.0 which has a radio station called country but all it seems to play are those really twangy country songs that I hate. I like the soft sappy ones that tell a story.

I go line dancing on Thursdays. Thats the only way I get to hear my country music. Does anyone else know how to line dance? There is a place in the city on Tuesdays that have it.

I'd heard a rumor right before Opie & Anthony got fired from WNEW (102.7) that the station was thinking about switching formats to country, but I haven't heard anything since.
It's so weird b/c everywhere else in the country, country music stations are always the most profitable. I never understand why they don't stay in NYC area.

Love country music, and was completely heart broken when 107.1 turned to Latin (also I like that too, but it just wasn't my country music).
So what's the consensus? Is there a new station?

Mims...I posted about that...read above. I turned on 94.3 to listen to country on the way home and I heard 80's and I was like what the hell happened? I checked, re-checked, and checked again and then they said they changed the format!!!
