Anyone play the Electric String (Violin)

I always wanted to play violin as a little girl, but never asked my mom thinking the lessons would be too much. Anyways now at age 24 I really want to take a shot at it.

Does anyone play?
Is it hard?
Can you recommend an instructor?

My husband tells me to focus on finishing school first, but why not start now...I would like to learn and be able to play before I have my 1st born. My dream is for my daughter to a violinist ...lol
