Anyone use Adobe Photoelements?

My husband has Photoelements and I have never used it...I am trying to pull out the color of our bouquets in a pic and leaving the rest b&w..anyone know where I begin?

I have it..its great.

Create a new duplicate layer. Make the layer underneath black and white. Erase all parts of the top layer except the bouquets.

Yes, start with the photo in color.

But dont use the pic from shutterfly, the resolution will be very low. Better to use the original digital file scanned with a high resolution.

ok. so if someone sent me a pic and I uploaded it to shutterfly and then took it back, the pic isn't as good as it was when I started?

Yes thats right. SHutterfly displays the photo using low res to a)reduce the time to load and server space needed and b)not allow people to use the digital file without paying them. I believe you can 'buy' the original high res digital file from them in some way.

I get it.....
one more question...if I can get the original from the girl who took them, and I play around...will it look ok if I send it to shutterfly to get it printed out? thats my problem...we don't have a good printer for photos.....

Yes, you can do that. You have to send a high res file to shutterfly. They will store the high res file so they can print a good quality photo - but the file they display onthe webpage will always be web resolution only.

Amy, yes, I did this with some wedding photos...changed them to grayscale, others brought out bouquets in color in Photoshop and Shutterfly printed them OK, not the best but OK. My resolution was high too.
