Re: Appetizer Recipes??!
FYI if he doesn't have work make one of his friends ask him to go somewhere to buy you some time the day of. I know I could get rid of DH for hours if his brother asked him to go play golf or go to the driving range.

Re: Appetizer Recipes??!
There are a bunch of recipes in the NW cookbook, but I have tons more I will look for. I have a great recipe for blue cheese stuffed mushrooms if your interested. I can't put it in the cookbook because MIL would flip, it took marrying her son for me to get the recipe out of her. But I would FM it to you if you want.
Also go to the frozen food aisle or better yet Costco and buy those premade put in the oven hor d'oerves. They are so yummy.
And pigs in a blanket are always an easy crowd pleaser.

Re: Appetizer Recipes??!
If you want something easy, take french bread, and put some gorgonzola on it, drizzle some honey over it, and put a dried apricot on top of that and heat in the oven to warm it...very easy, and yummy.
Buffalo Chicken Dip, take some precooked rotisserie chicken and shred it or canned chicken chunks (a little more ew-inducing to me), put in a casserole with Franks Red Hot buffalo sauce and blue cheese and bake.
I'm planning on making these when my family comes over for dinner at our apartment for the first time.
1. Preheat oven to 375 F 2. Split each pita horizontally into 2 rounds and brush rough sides with oil. 3. Cut each round into 16 wedges and arrange with edges touching, oiled sides up, on 2 baking sheets. 4. Sprinkle pita with Parmesan and salt and pepper to taste. 5. Bake on middle and lower racks of oven, switching position of sheets in oven halfway through baking, 12-15 minutes or until golden. (serves 12)

I made this spinach & feta phyllo triangle & stuffed mushrooms for thanksgiving and it was a hit. Very easy to make. I think I put them in the cookbook. Also fresh salsa and guacamole are really easy and crowd pleasers.

Re: Appetizer Recipes??!
I just added Spinach and Artichoke Dip to the cookbook. Here is another one I got from my shower.
Cheese Ball:
1 lb. package Velveeta Cheese 8 oz. cream cheese 1/8 tsp. garlic powder crushed walnuts or pecans paprika favorite crackers
Mix cheeses and garlic powder. Chill for a half hour. Shape into ball (or divide and make 2 balls). Roll in nuts. Sprinkle with paprika. Serve.
Let me know if you want the stuffed mushroom recipe. I will FM it to you.

Re: Appetizer Recipes??!
My sister recently made the easiest appetizer for Xmas...take a block of cream cheese (let it sit out for a bit) and pour a jar of red pepper jelly over it...serve with crackers! It sounds weird but it was really good. And you can hide these ingredients and slap them together in one minute. So it's a good 'stealth' appetizer. :)

Re: Appetizer Recipes??!
I make an edamame dip that is super easy and good but not everyone's speed. .but I can get the recipe if you're interested. .basically is just edamame, cliantro, oil, a little garlic, and lemon, and salt pureed
also chicken satay is super easy if you have a grill (george foreman's work too but take a long time)
what kind of things do you want?
also DELICIOUS are bacon wrapped dates - seriously all you do is wrap a piece of bacon around a date, broil, turn once, broil again. .

Taco Dip!
1 packet old el paso taco seasoning 1 lb lean ground turkey or beef 1 bag shredded cheddar (we just reduced fat ) 1 block cream cheese (we use fat free)
Brown turkey meat in fry pan and drain the fat. Empty taco seasoning on top of meat with 2/3 cup water (or as directed on packet) and cook until water is boiled off.
Spread cream cheese onto the bottom of an aluminum pan. Pour taco meat over the cream cheese. Sprinkle cheddar on top. (i use the whole bag!) Bake in the oven on 350 degrees until cheese melts. Serve with tostitos!! SOOOO good and SOOO easy!

I LOVE red pepper jelly! This tastes awesome with Brie instead of cream cheese.

If you like salami this is soo easy!
Take pretzel rods and break them in half or get the short ones. Spread cream cheese around the 3/4 of the rod and then wrap a piece of salami around it!
