apple pie recipe....

Anyone have a good home made apple pie recipe...I want to try and make one

I should also add I will prob be using store crust cause I never made a pie crust and I'm afraid. I will mess it up

well the apple pie i make isn't so much from a recipe, but its easy and delish...all i do is cut up a bag of apples (i use red delicious, but i know that you should use another type, idk what it is though) and i mix it with sugar, cinamon, and nutmeg and a TINY bit of oj, to keep them from browning

Then to make the crust, i use flour (like 3 or 4 cups) crisco (like 1/2 cup) and water (like 2 tbsps) and make that, then roll it out.

then i put pats of butter on the bottom of the crust, fill with apples and put more pats of butter on the top, then put the top crust on top.

yes! and it has the best, oatmeal streusel topping ever (which is so much easier than a top crust):

DUTCH APPLE PIE

8 or 9 baking apples, peeled and cored
1 tbsp. lemon juice
4 tbsp. all-purpose flour
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. salt
1 (9 inch) unbaked pie shell

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Slice apples and sprinkle with lemon juice. Add remaining ingredients and toss. Place apple mixture into pie shell and sprinkle with crumb topping (below). Bake for one hour.


CRUMB TOPPING:

2 c. uncooked oatmeal
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 lb. butter

Grind oatmeal in blender until finely ground. Place oatmeal and all other ingredients into a mixing bowl. Mix with a pastry cutter until mixture resembles coarse meal.
