Are Rachael Ray's 30 minute meals REALLY 30 minute?

Are Rachael Ray's 30 minute meals REALLY 30 minute?

Or am I a complete culinary idiot?

It took ages tonight! And they call it easy but it never seems simple. DH says we can just order out- he thinks it's cheaper and there's alot less to clean up! God knows I use like 4 different pots in the process.

I guess it takes practice...

Or we just have to go back to boring, plain food.

I wish I knew how to be a decent cook without having to resort to these crazy recipes!

I hear ya-- cooking takes time and patience. But lately I have just been sticking to recipes with fewer ingredients and less steps to ensure that I wont be cooking for 2 hours!!! If something looks too complicated, I dont even bother

I guess it takes 30 mintues when you have everything Prepped for you before hand.
30 Minutes for Ms. Rachael Ray, but defitnely NOT me, when I tried one of her 30 minute recipe, it took A LONG TIME

If they say 30 minutes I figure for me it'll be at least an hour!

I have that book and I HATE it for that very reason! The recipes take way longer than 30 minutes. As someone already said, its probably 30 minutes if everything is prepped for you already.
I also am beginning to resent the recipes b/c they are NOT healthy at all......

I have to admit that I LOVE all of her recipes that I've tried. BUT:

The are NEVER 30 minutes and they ARE NOT healthy like she claims.

I have improved my chopping skills which has taken some time off cooking them but still, it's at least 45!

Exactly - that is not including prep time.

I competely agree. They take about 45 and they're not very healthy always. Putting in a 'little bit of EVOO' is a cup to Rachael...that's a bit too much for me.

Yeah...that seems to be the trick- recipes with fewer ingredients. AND less EVOO- holy canoli she packs that stuff on. I totally agree the recipes aren't all that healthy...there's just no way.

okay...I'm off to find recipes with fewer ingredients! Thanks for the support ladies!
