With all the wedding planning I kept putting off deciding what i wanted to do with my job. I am thinking about doing a career change but, I am 30 and what if I want to have kids. I mean are most people happy in their jobs? I feel like even if I go somewhere else I will just feel the same after the excitement has passed.

I can't stand my job i just take it 1 day at a time I want to start a family next year. But I also don't want to stay at this job long so i plan on looking for a change real soon

Nope, but it pays the bills and I have interviewed for positions in a different field and the pay isn't the same. I really don't want to have children in the field I am in because the schedule fluctuates and I just want to be around my kids for the first few years before they go off to school.

Nope, but I am so close to home and I get paid prettly decently for not having to commute. I dont miss a 3 hour each day commute at all. I feel like how much longer am I going to stick it out?? 1 -2 years before we have kids, and maybe I can come back here part time if needed since its so close.
Im really bored at work but its work. I only loved 1 job I had but the pay wasnt enough. I guess sometimes you just have to live with it....

I was miserable at my old job. Im still bitter when I think about some stuff! Then they did me a huge favor (I was mad at the time) and laid me off the day we got back from our honeymoon. I was planning to look for a new job anyway as soon as we got back, but this made it easier to get a reference from them. Although I ended up not needing it and got a job on the following Monday. Im MUCH happier at my new job!!!!!! But it was scarry when i got laid off cus they didn't give me and sort of severence and the fact that I got laid off from a staffing agency cus of the lack of jobs they were getting was scary! BHut it worked out for the best!

There were days at my old job at a supermarket that I was miserable. Looking back I worked with some awesome people but the customers were just horrible.
I love my job now. That doesn't mean that I don't want to kill myself when the alarm goes off in the morning or that I don't look at teh clock twenty times a day. I just really like it - but I will always like NOT working MORE!

I absolutely hate my job. and I have the same thoughts as you are. What should I do? In the industry where I work, there are no 9-5 hours, lots of stress and I am so tired of working long hours and being exhausted all the time. On the other hand, if I leave my industry and go somewhere else, I would have to take at least 40% pay cut , which scares the sh@@ out of me I have been going back and forth with these thoughts So you are not alone!

I doubt it. If I become really miserable here I'll start looking. There are other options out there, Im just spoiled with the convenience of my job.

I feel the same way. I only hate my job SOMETIMES, basically when I have deadlines. So right now, I'm not liking my job. I am too old for a career change but I know I will have to once we have kids.

I love my job but there are days when I have to draaaag myself there. Once I get there and see the kids I realize that I'm so luck I'm a teacher!

I do love my job but there are still days when I want to rip my hair out. I always dreamed of being a teacher but somehow ended up doing contracts....weird. However, I get to choose what work I do and how and pretty much manage myself so it definitely has it's advantages. We'll see what happens.

Overall, i would have to say yes, i am happy. Of course there are things i would like to change, but all in all i know i am very lucky. Especially with the way things are today, 3 friends in the last 6 months have been fired/laid off...so i count my blessings !

i could have posted this message myself. I definitely do not have the option of being a stay at home mom, and that puts pressure on me to keep my job (that i really am unhappy at) because I'm the breadwinner for the family.
The idea of starting my own business has crossed my mind time and time again, but having a regular paycheck is pretty persuasive reason to stay at my job.
