Are you going out and stocking up on canned goods, batteries, water? I KNOW the duct tape stuff is stupid, as it will not help anything unless you can seal your whole darn house up and that is impossible, but are you preparing?

Me neither. But who knows what I'll find when I go home to Panic/Neurotic Man!!! He tells me that if something happens we have to go 'west' !!! Ok honey, whatever you say!!! I'm glad one of us has her head on her shoulders (although I do admit that half the time it's up my butt )!!!!!

Oh Jen, I'll happily come running to your open arms!!! He thinks we can get to his mother's, but FYI, if they close the bridges and stuff, I can't get to him unless I'm Wonder Woman or sprout wings and fly!!! And if I could do that, I would've saved myself the 3 hour walk home on 9/11!!!! He kills me!

Nope...this whole idea that having 3 days of water in case of a major biological catasphophe is absolutely ludicrious! If there is some major event that shuts down the city's electric and water supply - the LAST thing that is going to be a problem is having fresh water! We are toast.
And honestly - who are these warnings helping? We have been hearing this stuff for over a year now! What can anyone really do about it but have an anxiety attack everytime I step out the door? Unless they have something specific, they should just keep quiet about it and let the law enforcment and miltary do their jobs to prevent it. Otherwise we are all becoming numb to these warnings and they are losing their intended benefit.

Nothing here. All this stuff is crazy. I just pray and leave it in God's hands until I see something I can actually do. Stocking up on things just does not seem like something that will help to me at this point. I live in an apartment and we don't have a lot of room as it is. Last thing I need is for something to pop off and we are killed by all the canned goods in our house

Deb, in all seriousness, if you're ever (god forbid)stranded in the city, I have a VERY (like a sister) close friend and a brother who would happily give you a place to crash for however long you need to.

I think I have become numb to the warnings. Unless I am told to do something specifically, no actions will be taken from me... I don't get it, what having extra food will somehow save my life.

Neva, can the church say Amen. I am doing my normal grocery shopping. I will not let anyone let me live in fear. I am staying away from these threads b/c as soon as I get myself back to my comfort level another one pops up.
The only packing I am doing is for my trip to Europe on the 28th Yippee

I am not stocking up anything more than we normally do for the baby. I cannot be caught w/o diapers, formula, cereal or baby food. We'll have to suffer if something were to happen, but the baby will be comfortable and I think that's an absolute necessity.
