Areas affected by the Sharpton 'protest'

i was watching channel 4 and these areas have definite activity right now

Upper East Side --
queens borough (59th St.) bridge shut down in both directions

2nd ave. pretty much shut down.

-125th & Lexington is another area they are at

they are at the ramps of the Triborough bridge as well - but police are stopping them from getting on there.

Manhattan bridge is shut down both directions

--Varick & Houston--there are about 200 protestors approaching

As well these areas will probably be affected:

1 Police Plaza
415 Atlantic Ave
34th & Park Ave
3rd & 60th

well whats crazy is that they have been giving their names to police to let them know they WANT to be arrested.

i heard that Sharpton and Hot 97 has promised people they'd be bailed out and get like $50 if they get arrested. nice, huh?

i'm so pissssssssed right now.

I was going to ask how you're getting home.

I called the MTA hotline and they told me that according to the info they have right now, only inbound traffic is being affected on the 59th st bridge (meaning no inbound) but that the outbound is fine - he didn't sound so sure though!

ETA: I'm going to try to catch the bus - if its not running or whatever, I'll have to make it down to penn to take the LIRR and then take the regular bus home from there. I'm afraid someone will accidentally hurt my arm if i take the subway but that might be easier!

jenn, i think you're ok... this is from ny1 - no mention of the lincoln tunnel

'Those locations are close to several key transportation points, including the Triborough and Brooklyn Bridges, and the Midtown and Holland Tunnels. '

Mike just told me that the command center just ordered all express buses back on route, which means the bridge must be open again.
Still not taking any chances so I am taking the 7 train to Flushing and the local bus from there. I'm on the east side and it will take me about 20 minutes to walk to Penn.

eta : Yesi with your arm it might be better for you to just sit ont he bus and wait out the traffic.
Hopefully the bulk of this is over and command center is right.
