Asked again!
Ok this was the second time recently at work that I have been asked 'when I am due' or long I have been pregnant! (Which by the way I am not, and I dont think I have gained weight or anything to make people think this)...Anyway it freaks me out because it was a parent of a student in my class. When you are a teacher parents flip out when they hear your are preggo! (Thinking I will leave their kid midyear...)
So, I asked this mom where she heard such a thing, and she said 'all the moms' have been talking about it!
What do I do????

Re: Asked again!
That is so incredibly rude.I would tell them you are greatly offended when people tell you that and if she thinks it again, to keep it to herself. If that doesnt shut them up then nothing will.

Re: Asked again!
Who are these nosy people??? I'd tell that woman, 'I'm not pregnant, go tell your little friends!'Funny how a rumor always spreads faster than the truth.

Re: Asked again!
I agree, that is rude. I always wait for someone to mention to me of their pregnancy before I would ever say anything. Some people just dont get it.

Re: Asked again!
Christy - OMG!! I can't believe the rudeness!!!If it were me and I knew that parent was coming in I would put a small pillow in my shirt
Really give them something to talk about.......However, it is still rude and absolutely none of their business.

Re: Asked again!
This has got to be the BEST reason NOT to become a teacher!
The freakin' parents are nosey, busy-body gossips! I HATE the 'politics' of the school environment - God help me when Paul starts school!Christy - this is incredibly RUDE and inexcusable - and I am just SHOCKED that one of the parents actually had the balls to say that to you!
Do these people have no class whatsoever??? I understand a parents' concern about a substitute mid-year, but puhleeeeeze!I would make sure you put the parent in her place, and give her something to tell her other Mom 'friends' about!

Re: Asked again!
Christy I can totally sympathize. Parents can be SO nosy. They're all so concerned with who is going to be on maternity leave. It's none of their damn business!!!
When I was about 20 weeks preg. a parent asked my friend who team teaches with me if I was pregnant. My friend didn't want to blow my cover, so she said no. The parent's response was 'how unfortunate for her', meaning I was just FAT. I was LIVID.

Who does these parents think they are??!!! Regardless of what anyone looks like, they should keep their comments to themselves!!!!
Christy - Maybe you can nicely joke with the parent that said this to you, that you can't believe you're personal life is such the topic of conversation around here....maybe that will get the message across nicely. Or you can be more direct and tell them to mind their own business!!!

Re: Asked again!
Let these nosy people talk all they want...don't they realize how stupid they look talking about something that has no truth to it. These parents should be ashamed of themselves...
...Sorry you have to go through this.

I CANNOT BELEIVE how obnoxious and rude and SELFISH parents can be!
