Attn: All Graphic Designer!!! Wedding Album?

I'm a Graphic Designer, I'm getting a digital wedding album and I'm not sure if I'm over reacting to something or not...The graphic artist hired by my photographer to create our wedding album scanned the 4x6 proof not the negatives(our album will be 9x9)...I'm I over reacting to this...they are also telling me that they will color correct and touch up the dust after all the effects are done and no other photos need to be moved around...also the GA told me she will be sending jpegs to the printer....

All these thing to me are a no-no, I hired a professional to create my album, to be purely focused on my album and thats not what I'm getting

- Really, really sad about my album

My cousin is a graphic designer.. and I am sure she would be bugging out too... They are professionals, annd I am sure your photographer won't want a bad rap, so I am sure your album won't turn out bad...

Have you seen any of their completed albums?? Who is your photographer?

Re: Attn: All Graphic Designer!!! Wedding Album?

I'm not a Graphic Designer, but I do deal with photographs and negatives and such for my company.

We only scan the 4 x 6 proof if we have no other choice. She should totally be scanning the negative and sending TIF files to the printer since those would give you the best quality. Assuming everything is scanned in at least 300 dpi, of course.

I'd say to talk to your photographer about your concerns, and see if they have any sample books to look at.

Re: Attn: All Graphic Designer!!! Wedding Album?

While scanned negatives and tif files are preferred, I don't think you will be able to see a difference in the print if you have quality workmanship elsewhere.

I often print from JPGs and the quality is indistinguishable from TIFs provided they are used correctly in high resolution.

And since your album is only 9x9, scanning the proof and touching up any imperfections should work well.

If you are worried - can you ask to see a sample of the printing to put your mind at ease? I designed my own album but my photographer printed a few pages of my album for me so I could assure color casts and quality were spot on.
