Attn : West Indian Wives

Some of you might know that I have been trying tot think of a theme for my best friend's bridal shower. She is not a tea party type, she is a party girl so I decided the theme is going to be

CARNIVAL!!!!!!! CARNAVAL!!!! However you want to spell it.

I know this is really popular in Brazil and in the West Indies. Any ideas for decorations would be great!!

Carnival costumes are very expensive. The cost about $150 to $250.

I am Caribbean, and I didn't have a typical shower. My family planned a co-ed shower where we had a lot of Caribbean food. After opening gifts, we partied the night away to music by a DJ.

I am not trying to get into a bra-thong combo costume of anything, \\I just want it to be bright and have some feather masks and maybe a big feather hat for the bride and boas and sprakles and sequins.......that's CARNIVAL right?

I have a friend at work from Barbardos and another from Antigua and thehy said KEEP IT BRIGHT!!!

a good idea is to keep everything centered around the caribbean. food: tropical fruit basket (kiwi, mangos, pineapples, papaya), coconut fried shrimp, king fish, curry chicken, margaritas(watermelon, apple), pina colatas. decor: bright flowers like gerber dasies in various colors

play plenty of soca music. have your guest make masks and have the bride vote for the best one. instead of the design the wedding gown game design mas costumes instead.

these are just some ideas off the top of my head. if you need anymore help fm me!

GREAT IDEAS bridetobe!!!! Gerber daisies are really bright so that would be perfect. I was going to get steel drum music. DO you think that's good!!

Nats, I did not mean the real costume, the people could make their own by being creative. Feathers etc. Roger will be back Thursday, I will ask him for some ideas

I hear the costuimes invlove lots of thongs!!! That will be some bridal shower. maybe I should make it co-ed

I am picturing my girl in one of those gig, high feather hats!!!

Carnival costume can involve thongs, especially when you are young and have a gorgeous body. But it doesn't have to be. I have see many of gorgeous costumes that did not include thongs.

I think so too Shamma!!! I am down for it. Unless I am pregnant by September. Wouldn't be pretty now, would be LESS pretty then!!!

Of course you don't have to!! But all the best pics I've seen, they've got them on and my friend from Barbados mentioned it too!!
