ladies I need your help. I am getting married 8/20 and no clue what to put my RSVP date for or when to mail my invites. when did you ladies do it for your august weddings? TIA

I think the RSVP date is about 3-4 weeks before the wedding date.

i put an rsvp date of 7/8, got married on 8/8, so gave them a month and mailed them out around 5/25

Here's my timeline for my August wedding for our invitations:
* Mid January 2002-Purchased invitations
* Mid February 2002-Sent invites to foreign OOT guests in Australia, Malaysia, Canada, Hong Kong, and Japan. Mail is slow and gave courtesy to guests to have time to make arrangements to find airfares, take time off, etc.
* May 2002-Sent invites to all USA guests including OOT guests.
* July 20, 2002-RSVP deadline
* After July 20, 2002 thru Early August 2002-Short on guests to meet our 150 guest count, 'panic mood.' Began to send invites to guests from our 'B' list.
* Early August 2002 until wedding day-Contacting non-RSVP guests via e-mail, snail mail, telephone, etc. We had a divorce couple (DH's aunt & uncle) who RSVP 'maybe' which we did not know who exactly is the maybe. Maybe the uncle attend only, maybe the aunt attend only, or maybe both aunt & uncle 'maybe' attends?
* August 24, 2002-Our Wedding date!

sent my invites in mid-June for my 8/18 wedding.
Gave an RSVP date of 7/18.

Our hall needed a our final headcount by July 20th so we had an rsvp date of July 18th. We mailed out the invitations Memorial Day weekend (May 30th or so).
