Axxium Gel / Gelife manicures?

Axxium Gel / Gelife manicures?

I'm considering getting the gel manicure that lasts 2-3 weeks - but even though my nail salon swears that they do not damage the natural nail, I'm nervous about it! I had a very bad nail experience with UV gels which I had before the wedding, it took 6 months for my nails to get back to normal.

Anyone try it? know someone who tried it?

I know a few people who had it and loved it when it was on but hated themselves for getting it when they took it off. It's less damaging then acrylic and even silk wraps but they said that you still have to soak them off and file down your nails which will make them thin.

I really wanted to get this done as well but it took me way too long to grow out my nails to do it again! I would stick with your natural nails, but that's just my opinion!

if you do a search on the fashion board over on LIF you will find all kinds of info.

Everyone seems to love it when its on but from what they say it does the same damage to your nails as acrylics.

yeah I think that's how I'd be!!! I have heard that they claim there's no damage to the nails to soak off they have to scrap the gel off. Not cool! too good to be true... sigh....
sticking to my weekly mani!

I'm with ya! I had tips for a long time and my nails took years to grow out! Ugh! Not worth it in my opinion! i'd rather have chipped polish than thin nails!

I loved it. I did it for my vacation 2 weeks ago and it did last 2 or more weeks. When I had it removed, they charged me an extra $5!! It didn't really damage my nails too much. Nothing that a buffer wouldn't fix. I would have it done all the time if it wasn't expensive and if I didn't like to change my color every week. It's def good for a vacation or if you can't get to the salon every week.

I've done it-I did it for my wedding!

I won't do it all the time-I found it annoyed me when it grew out just as much as any other fake nail I ever did.

It does last and it is better from your nails than electric filing. My nails were always fine the few times after I did the oxxium.

when i went to the salon the other day they were telling my about another new thing that came out called shellac. it is very durable but they don't have to file down you natural nail. it goes on more like nail polish and last 2-3 weeks. but they said if your natural nail is weak then it will just shatter.

ive had the gel on for close to 3 wks now, and Im hoping to get it removed today and put on another color

ill report back tomorrow

but i have to say at 3 weeks, the gel is still on - never chipped. but the ridges of my nails are starting to look dirty (i was spring cleaning this wknd and it seems that dust got caught between the gel and my natural nail - gross - i hate how it looks!!)

so funny you mention this - I'm actually doing the Shellac with SIL tomorrow - the technician swears up and down there is no damage to the nail and it soaks off much more easily than Calgel/Axxium/Gelife - I will report details! Oh and Shellac is cheaper too, I'm excited!

actually-the Shellac is what I did for my wedding! My friend works for the company that makes it, and we used a prototype on me..it was awesome! It's definitely way better than the Oxxium IMO.
Bit the Oxxium was still pretty good.
