I can't stop thinking about it this week. I just had my annual GYN exam and asked about preparing myself and she said I'm doing all the right things. I'm also doing really well with my weight loss so that put me in a good mood as well -- since I want to lose this weight before getting pregnant.
My husband and I are excited about starting a family but now I'm worried about my next set of friends who I know will be getting engaged soon -- and I just have visions of me being tge major prego BM at their weddings -- or not being able to travel to their weddings at all -- I'm a total freak :-)
Anyway -- anyone else in the same boat? We are planning to start in the fall.

Baby on the mind
I also have baby on the mind but because I am already pregnant. It`s great that you are getting yourself physically in shape for pregnancy. It is really helpful for a healthy pregnancy and will make it easier to feel comfortable putting on the weight that is necessary for a healthy baby. In regards to your friends wedding and your possible size and/or condition: I wouldn`t worry about that. When you are pregnant, you will not feel the same about your size from a baby as you do from excess weight. I am loving being pregnant, even though we are going to a friend`s wedding in 2 months and I am going to have to find a maternity dress for a formal evening wedding, it`s not the same as dreading shopping for a formal dress if I gained weight in a non-pregnant way. One of my best friends was unable to come to our wedding because of having a baby. She was very very missed but...you can`t plan your life around other people`s events when it comes to something as big as this. There`s always a give and take in life and compromises when our lives get fuller and fuller. Best wishes in your baby planning!

Baby on the mind
Thanks Elizabeth -- I really appreciate your point of view. You are right about not planning life around others -- also I just didn't want my friends to feel like I was competing for attention or anything being pregnant at their wedding and taking attention away from their special day. People always act so crazy around pregnant woman it seems -- not letting them carry anything, or making them sit, etc. Do get that reaction??
So glad to hear you are doing well and enjoying the experience. I'm looking forward to it when the time comes!
COngratulations!!

Baby on the mind
It`s very considerate that you are caring about your friends wedding day being all theirs but I`m sure it won`t take away from their day at all. Just more joy in the room :o) My nephew was born 9 days before our wedding and my SIL was breastfeeding and of course had to bring him to the wedding. In the corner of my mind, I had a vision of everyone gathering around the baby and taking away from our day but it came to pass that it was not the case at all. I`m sure the baby got plenty of attention that day (as did the 2 pregnant friends in attendance) but it in no way detracted from our day and I`m sure if you were pregnant then, it would be the same. There`s alot of happiness in the air when babies, pregnancies & weddings all come together. As for the pregnancy attention, I am just starting to show so I`m just beginning to get that preggie attention. Advice from a friend who is also a mom: enjoy it because once you walk in a room with the baby, expect all the attention to go to the baby. LOL

Elizabeth...
I was thinking about you just the other day wondering how you're feeling. Great to hear that you're doing well!!
My poor sister is sick as a dog!! Apparently, my nephew doesn't like anything she feeds him (one of those 'hard to please' guys!) including water, which makes her gag... I do hope that I have the same aversion to chocolate like she does when I get PG! She can't even stand the smell of it! Ahhh, I wish! Hee Hee!

I am feeling great. I made it through my first trimester without a single bout of morning sickness and I`m about 16 weeks along. Some nausea definitely but none of what it sounds like your poor sister is experiencing. :o( I cannot stand certain foods though, a motley assortment of things that just don`t appeal to me. So she knows she is having a boy? That`s great!! We are going to wait but I`m still DYING to know. I think I am having a boy (I have no reason why I think this except a gut feeling - mother`s intuition?) Thanks for asking.

Don't worry about being pregnant at weddings and other formal parties... I think pregnant women look adorable all dressed up!

Baby on the mind-It doesn't always happen the way you want
Unfortunately I got a little upset when I read Stef's post ONLY because we all have this crazy idea that when we plan to get pregnant it just happens, well maybe for most women and alot of other women have to keep trying, like ME. I will be off the pill a year come next month and you never imagine in your wildest dreams that it would be this hard to have a baby, you spend most of your adult life trying to prevent this and now when you want it, it doesn't always happen that easy. I guess what I'm trying to say to Stef is...who cares what other people think? The only important people should be yourself and your family. Good Luck

We're not finding out what we are having either, but I'm convinced it's a boy. I'm about 19 weeks along and am running out of clothes that fit. I LOVE being pregnant, though!!!!

I in no way meant it to be offensive. I am doing a lot of planning now before we start trying -- and that's all we can do is try -- if we're blessed then we'll be so fortunate.
My husband and I have been discussing this since the beginning of the year -- then it dawned on me that with several friends probably getting married soon it would be hard for me to travel and all of my friends live out of state. It just made me sad that I would possibly miss their weddings. Anyway that is all...my best to you and your husband -- sometimes we take it for granted that we can just automatically get pregnant and it's not always that easy.

You are definitely right that it doesn`t always happen right away but if you decide to go off the pill, it is always good to be prepared that it that it could happen right away. I feel for how frustrating it must be, my SIL & BIL tried for awhile. They are now blessed with a beautiful 15 month old boy. Last year, it seemed like everyone kept asking us 'so when are you going to have a baby?' I realized what an insensitive comment it is (nevermind we were only married 3 moonths) to make because it doesn`t take into account that people may be trying for awhile or don`t want children or can`t have children so I will never say that to someone ever. I am sending prayers your way that you will be receiving baby news very soon :o)

Sounds like you are feeling great. Ah, the second trimester!! If your crowd is like mine, they are already trying to figure out what we are having based on the many old wives tales out there. It will be fun to see how everyones theories develop as we get further along. I am partly in maternity clothes and partly in some of my bigger things at this point..but the non-maternity stuff is rapidly on it`s way out. Can`t wait till those hot August days!! LOL Best wishes!

Thanks Ladies!
Stef I did not mean it the way it sounded please don't feel like I was mad at you, I wasn't at all. I guess I just wanted people to realize that things don't alway turn out the way you plan. Thanks for the wishes!

Good thoughts to all...
Sometimes with the written words things can be taken out of context, sorry -- I know we are all here to help each other so my best to all and thanks for everyone advice.
