Back from Mexico, wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Year! Also huge vacation Rave!
I don't post as much as a lot of other members here, but I just wanted to say how much I appreciate this site. When I first found it, I thought I'd never be on after the wedding, but I do find it so helpful about so many things beyond wedding planning. You gals have such great senses of humor, and everyone is such an individual and so helpful about so many different topics.
A few weeks ago I posted asking help about where to go on vacation.
We listened to the ladies who said CanCun over Bahamas in December.
We had the best vacation - It was like a second honeymoon.
We went to La Isla Mujeres - a small Island off of CanCun. It was so amazing. Our hotel was the Avalon Reef Club, and was absolutely beautiful. It was on its own little Island on the Island. If anyone is planning a getaway, I can't recommend this place enough. Its beautiful, affordable, and the staff is great. We didn't do the all inclusive option, and we are so glad we didn't. We did eat there a few times, and the food was great, but the hotel is walking distance to other great local restaurants, and drinks and food were very cheap, so it all worked out. We spend the last night at the sister hotel, Avalon Baccara on Cancun because we had an early flight, and it takes a while to get to the airport from La Isla Mujeres - (ferrry to CanCun and then cab). The Avalon Bacara was a beautiful hotel, but so different from La Isla. In La Isla Mujeres, you have a water view from anywhere you stand, but in Cancun, we had a huge beautiful room, overlooking the highway! It was just for a few hours though, we had to leave at 5AM. Overall, it was an amazing week. I'm a little sad to be home in the snow.
We are having a relatively quiet New Year - we'll be at a friends apartment who is having a small get together.
