back to planning....

on January 20th 2010 will be my parents 50th wedding anniversary, and I am going to throw them a big party, I was thinking on surprising them with our priest so they can renew there vows, I really want this to be BIG and SPECIAL. if you girls have any ideas please share them with me. I am going to hire a band or dj also. and rent a hall, get a spectacular cake, but I need some great ideas so please throw some my way....TIA...

thats such a wonderful and thoughtful idea. Would you want to make it not a surprise that way you can take you mother 'wedding' dress shopping? i think its such a great bonding experience when roles are reversed ya know?

i think anything you do for them is going to be special and greatly appreciated.

what about looking at your moms wedding album and seeing what color and type of flowers she carried on her wedding day and incorperate them either as center pieces or a small bo-k for her to hold.

I don't know if this is a good idea but a friend who had a party for their parents anniversary had pictures blown up of them on easel around the hall, i thought it was a nice touch...

i would do a photo montage of them through the years, that would be touching.

Are you also looking for places?

I was just going to suggest doing a photo montage. Do you know what their wedding song was?

these are wonderful ideas, my moms wedding gown is gorgeous, it is all lace and silk to bad her booty will never fit in it again, it is stunning, maybe I could put that and my dads suit on display.

a photo montage is definite. when my mom was young she was a knock out the beautiful thick long blonde hair a body to die for and my daddy was very handsome. I am so excited to do this.

That is so sweet of you! Hhhhhmmmmm photo montage was already mentioned and I do love the idea of putting up the gown and your dad's suit. You can place the table cards near it.

i would do something to recreate something from their wedding day. What was their first song, for example lets just say it was a frank sinatra song have a sinatra impersonator sing the song.

Im trying to think of other things you can recreate from the day but cant think right now lol if i think of something ill post it. Oh wait what type of limo did they have, maybe get same limo or a limo from the year they were married.

Or was there something your mother always wish she had or did for her wedding but never did. This way she can finally get it.

I like the idea of something she wanted but did not have, and the impersonator. tia.

i also realized something, you dont have to do a limo from the year they got married, although the rolls from then are nice but you can also do some car that is not around anymore. Maybe this would be more for your dad, men always have an obsession with some type of car that was around during that time.

I would definitely try to find out something she never got to do and wanted to do, that would be touching for her.

Good luck with everything

We did this for my grandparents 50th. We had it at the George Washington Manor and hired a priest and a DJ.

It's a great idea. They'll have so much fun!
