bahamas

Anybody been to the Bahamas? As an adult vacation - not a Spring Break thing. Me and hubby need some time away - but we have no time! Any suggestions as this paradise is only a couple of hours away?

I went several years ago with my family.
It was the Disney Cruise for 3 or 4 nights.
It was a lot of fun.

I know the perfect place. It's absolutely beautiful. My DH and I went there on our honeymoon. It's on the Grand Bahama Island, Our Lucaya Resort. You have to stay at the Westin Resort which used to be Breaker's Cay. The resort has 7 miles of beachfront property, water is absolutely beautiful and warm, and right across the street is the Marketplace which has tons of shops, restaurants and bars. They also have live Carribean music. We spent a lot of time in the swim up bar overlooking the Carribean. We loved it so much! We want to go back again this year, but we probably won't be able to. Definitely check it out. We chose there because Nassau is too commercial and crowded. Grand Bahama at Our Lucaya is laid back, romantic, fun, etc. It definitely feels more Carribean than commercial. You won't be sorry! If you have any more questions, let me know!

I could talk your ear off about the Bahamas...I LOVE it there!

We stayed 2 years ago at a friends house right next to the Compass Point Resort. Although we weren't staying in a resort room, we had all the amenities of the place, and got to see a lot of the rooms, which are actually huts on stilts. The huts are all colored in bright junkanoo colors, and inside they have tons of amenities, the room is decorated in such a fun way.....and they have little balconies with rocking chairs to sit and watch the ocean.

They all overlook the ocean, and it's the most picturesque point in all of the Bahamas. It's adjacent to a private beach named Love Beach (no joke). The resort isn't all inclusive, but has the BEST restaurant! It is really the prettiest place on earth. We have never been happier anywhere in our lives than at this resort.

It's a little removed from the action, but if you rent a car, the world is yours. It's about 8 miles from downtown Nassau, and right near the airport (although you don't hear a plane). FH and I liked this because it was really private, and quiet. It's definitely not for the action starved. Not a lot to do at the resort itself, but they offer tons of excursions should you want them. At any given time there are no more than 50 people staying there.

Re: bahamas

I was in Bahamas twice with my husband before we were married. We went once to Breezes and the next time to Sandals (comp trip). I am not big on all inclusives though and they both are. We went to Breezes about 6 years ago and enjoyed it, but I dont know what it is like now. I second what stef said though, we dropped by Atlantis and if I ever head back that way, that is where I will stay.

Re: bahamas

Shamma - two of the hotels were mentioned by Stef and Cindy. I don't think you'd have a problem with either of them. Here are 2 links I found.

Breezes

or

Atlantis

We plan to go here for our one year anniversary in November. Is this a good time to go or is it still hurricane season?

I went on my honeymoon and loved the island, but not the resort we stayed at.

Re: bahamas

There should be no debate at all---nothing compares to the ATLANTIS

Re: bahamas

When we went to Atlantis for the day, we passed a Holiday Inn Resort and it looked pretty shady to me - but Ive never stayed so I cant say for sure.

Shamma: Bahamas is great for a weekend becaues honestly, there isnt all that much to do once you get there. Its like any Carribbean island, beautiful water but not much else.

Re: bahamas

Definitely Atlantis.
We stayed at Sandals, which I was not wild about, and visited Atlantis. I LOVED it there!

Re: bahamas

I've been there and had an awesome time. We stayed on Paradise Island at the Comfort Suites - which is right across from the Atlantis. And best of all, you get guest passes to the Atlantis. All the best for less cost. It was awesome!
