Rosella, they're both great, but I love the coloring of #1. I think if you take out the text, you'd have to recenter the pic on the right (centered vertically) so that there's not too much space up there. I personally like it as it.
Now, if you want to play with some pics for your portfolio, feel free to use any of mine!!! I'm having trouble picking pics I like for our TY anyway!

On a diff note Are you using a specific program for the layout or are you simply using photoshop and setting it up yourself?
