Im finding that alot of the stuff I got at my shower, I now have no use for... When you go to return a registry item, do they give you back the current pricing on the item or the price of it when it was originally purchased? Because being that its almost a year later, some of my items have drastically dropped in price...

They give you the price at which the person purchased it for. I returned something and they used a 20% coupon so I got the price they paid back.

i know if you have a gift receipt you will get whatever that person paid for it..
not sure tho, im going to guess you get the price it is now, cuz there is no proof what someone paid for it.

If its off your registry they give you store credit for returns.

Just went through it this weekend. If it's on your registry, you get the price the person purchased it for.
They will automatically give you store credit but if you ask for cash they'll give it to you.

Our iron broke and we no longer had the gift receipt. The store did not have the item in stock, so they gave us a cash refund for what the person had paid for it. They just looked it up on our registry on the computer.

When they scan it from your registry they know what someone paid for it.
I had to return a set of china after I took it out of the box because it had a black scrape on the mug. They gave me back the 100 instead of the 125 because they person used a coupon.

They give it you for what the person paid for it. they used to give cash back but they either did or are in the process of changing their policy and arent giving cash anymore just store credit.

The gave us cash back for items we returned on our registry. Even when we went to exchange something they would give us the money back and then ring us up for the item we wanted.

Im going to say if its over a year they will give you what its worth now. If it were right after the shower or within a month then you woul dhave gotten what they purchased it for.

UPDATE: They gave us the full purchased amount in store credit... My shower was last May so it didnt hit a year yet since people started purchasing (im assuming) so not sure what they do after 1 yr
