best housewarming gift?

best housewarming gift?

My friend is closing on a house today and I want to get her a gift ...

She's moving to the house solo (no boyfriend / hubby / roommate) but has lived in an apartment before so she has most of the 'necessities' (though nothing fancy). Oh, and she doesn't drink so wine isn't an option.

so, should i get her:
-- gift certificate to home depot
-- gift certificate to Bed Bath & Beyond
-- doormat with her initial on it
-- chanah plaque
-- other, these all suck.

TIA

ETA: i should mention that she's not really doing much renovations to the new house - just removing wallpaper from the kitchen ... for now. She said she'd like to paint eventually ... but not yet.

i think those all sound like nice gifts....i think maybe the home depot gift certificate is really nice. You could give them a bottle of wine and the gift card maybe.

Best gift I received was gift cards to the grocery store!!

I had a pantry and a cleaning closet to supply at the time and it came in very handy...

I LOVE THIS IDEA!!! I did something like this for my best friend. I went to the drug store and I got him all essentials for the bathroom like toliet paper, tums, a new toothbrush, gas-x (haha), nyquil, etc. She's DEF going to have to buy new groceries so that's a GREAT idea! I might steal this one day!

When we bought our house the best gifts we received were Home Depot and Lowes gift cards.

I agree- my mom got me GCs to Waldbaums at my shower and it was perfect when we moved into our new apartment for buying all the necessities.

it's a good idea in theory ... but she has the most un-green thumb ever so any plant would be dead within a week

We bought almost everything from BBB. it would have been so helpful to have bbb certificates! I say give her that with a framed photo of you two or something to display
