Booked Montauk Manor for our 1st wedding anniversary!!!

Ahhh - I'm so happy we finally made a decision! Between going back and forth between an upstate trip or East End weekend, we've decided to head back to our favorite place - Montauk

With the wedding last Fall we realized it had been a while since we were there last, and since October isn't peak, we got a great deal. We're staying at the Montauk Manor with a duplex deluxe suite with bay view and patio

We're looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend!

Re: Booked Montauk Manor for our 1st wedding anniversary!!!

Thanks!

Shamma, you crack me up

Here's the website The Manor
I've posted pics here from my last trip but I'm sure no one remembers from that long ago LOL

MM is a gorgeous tudor style mansion on top of a huge hill overlooking most of Montauk and the Sound. It's a drive to the water but in October I don't think we'll be doing much swimming!

Since we'll have our own kitchen we can have some meals there and just kick back. Most of the restaurants are still open at that time of year so you can still go out in the evenings.

Other activities include: taking a fishing boat trip (depending on season and weather), shopping, etc. We may even hit a few vineyards on the way back on our actual anniversary but DH doesn't know that yet!!

I really think you only get a good deal here if you book 'off season', that is, anything but July and August. We got a great deal for all that's included in the suite, and it's not overpriced. Our first trip there was terrible - the room was no bigger than my dorm room!

We'll be there for 3 nights

Now, here's a question: what do I do with my frozen cake? Leave it defrosting in the fridge the whole weekend? Or try and thaw it out when we get home? Maybe I'll take it with us and thaw it out the AM of our anniversary!

sounds great! I definitely want to make it there once we're back on the island.

I think you should take your cake with you and enjoy it there!

Terri, take it and thaw it when you get there, you have a refirgerator in your room right?? Looks so cozy. I think I want to go. I think I might surprise Roger with a little get away.

Re: Booked Montauk Manor for our 1st wedding anniversary!!!

Thanks ladies

Shamma - yep, we do have a fridge so that's what we'll do....if you do book a trip there, make sure you go in the fall or even Spring - it's much less expensive at that time of year and you get so much more for your money. Getting a small regular hotel room there isn't worth it, IMO. What's so nice are the suites....you can't really find them anywhere else in Montauk.

If you want to research more about the town, go to: www.onmontauk.com

Re: Booked Montauk Manor for our 1st wedding anniversary!!!

great idea Erica! I think that's right where our room will be too

I wonder if only your room had the sweet notes? I'll have to look better this time though - where were they, in the bdrm or living rm?

Re: Booked Montauk Manor for our 1st wedding anniversary!!!

it was in the living room...sitting on the side table? or maybe the coffee table...
I think it may be all rooms...b/c I think they labeled it room 218 (or whatever our number was)

Re: Booked Montauk Manor for our 1st wedding anniversary!!!

Montauk is awesome- we minimooned there last summer though we stayed at Shepherd's Nech Inn....The Manor looks great.

Be sure to eat at Gosmans - and another great restaurant we tried was Oyster Pond.

Re: Booked Montauk Manor for our 1st wedding anniversary!!!

yep, we've been there each year for the past 7 yrs or so, and always hit Gosman's at least once! Harvest on Fort Pond is great too, but we've only been there once on our last visit.

I wonder if Caswell's is still around? That was my favorite place but it was really pricey....I couldn't find it on the directory this year....maybe it closed?
