Re: Bride Sues Groom (Stolen from the 2011 board!)
eh... I'm going to be the odd-ball here.while i do think she should get SOMETHING, i think the amount of money she's seeking is a bit extreme.
I can understand him paying her back for whatever SHE or her family shelled out for the wedding, but emotional damage?? eh... yea, it hurts like hell and yes, its embarrassing... but would you sue every ex-boyfriend you had in middle school who broke your heart?
don't get me wrong, if she missed work or was made physically sick over it.. then yes, he should reimburse her for time missed/ drs appts, etc. but to ask for at least $50,000 in emotional distress, imho, is a bit much.
Meanwhile, he's hurting too..
IDK, i just think back to that bridezilla that got stood up on her wedding cause her FH and her daughter didn't get along, but she married him the next day.
and what about the runaway bride? remember, everyone felt sorry for her because she was so stressed out.. maybe the FH felt that way?
okay, i'll stop now. we will now return you to your original programing, please note, no animals were harmed in the typing of this message, but a chicken did lay an egg.

Where did it say it was $50k in just emotional damages?I don't think she should get anything for emotional damages, but he should absolutely pay for half the wedding bills.

I just assumed that much, because it said $12,500 was spent on the dress, rings, etc. and that invites were a little more.. so you figure in total she spent about $20-30,000 on the misc things, figure the hall is about another $20-30,000 (depending on what state they live in, how many guests,etc).. I mean it could have been more, I'm lowballing it.
so we're at about $40-60,000 on the wedding, and she's asking for $95,000.... so thats roughly $50,000 in emotional damage... am i right? or does my math suck?

Re: Bride Sues Groom (Stolen from the 2011 board!)
Ehh I don't think that's how much she spent. If she's a big time Chicago attorney, she probably spent like 100k on the wedding. And it was $12,500 on flowers, not the dress. I imagine that was much more!

Re: Bride Sues Groom (Stolen from the 2011 board!)
A lot of you don't know this but... DH had been engaged before me and she backed out rather close to the wedding and it was HIM who had incurred most of the charges from wedding planning.Needless to say...
Knowing that my engagement ring was put off because he was still paying off his would've-been wedding to this broad was
I wish he would've gone after her. She walked away and paid nothing back to him... completely screwed him over.
If I ever meet her ... I'm probably going to jail because I will punch this broad out.
In fact, I think she's engaged now so... maybe she's on here. F-U, MORON.

LOL for your last sentence, but that is F***Ked up...I think this dude deserves to pay half or more. If you leave before you get married, fine, so be it...but when everything is paid at this point, then you have a right and the responsibility to pay for your mistake

Re: Bride Sues Groom (Stolen from the 2011 board!)
I mean... I know they say 'better than going through it and getting a divorce' but maybe not so for this girl...she would've gotten all the wedding gifts and probably made a lot of money back and then she could've taken his a$$ for alimony.
He'll get what's coming to him.
Enjoy your prostate cancer, dickface.
