Brides Maid Contract!!!!

I heard this on the radio this moring, that some Brides-to-Be have their BM's sign contracts...WOW. I'd never heard of this before. Some of the things that were included on these contracts were:

~Can't gain weight
~Can't cut or change hair
~Can't get pregnant

I was just curious if this was actually something that is popular and what are your guys thoughts on this one? The lady on the radio said that she would have ripped it up in her friends face if presented with something like this.

That's crazy!
My bridesmaids already called me 'Bridezilla' - they would have abandoned me had I asked them to sign something like this.

Actually, they all tried to lose weight anyway, in order to look good. One of them threatened to be pregnant (but unfortunately it didn't work out for her, though secretly I was glad that she wasn't pregnant on the day of my wedding)

Snopes has it as undetermined---Bride gives ridiclious instructions to BP

i really wouldn't put it past some brides.

i did hear on z100 once about a bride who got married i think in 2006 -- and she was saying how one of the BMs gained a lot of weight and she was trying to figure out how to ask her not to be in the pictures---she could still be a BM--just no photos. and a lot of listeners got pissssed and she was on the phone with the morning zoo and was like 'oh whatever--i want my pics to be perfect and she used to be pretty and now she's so big'

she called back after the wedding---like almost a year---and stated that she did let the friend in the pics---and she will forever regret it cause her pics have her 'fat friend' in it--and she hates it....especially cause the friend wound up losing the weight later. i wanted to punch her in the face.

OMG!!!!!! That's terrible!

A friend of mine was in a wedding for one of her college friends, and the bride actually handed out a binder to each bridesmaid when planning began that had tabs and outlined everything from types of stockings and bras to how to wear their make up and hair. It also reminded them to keep breath mints stashed in their bouquets!

I remember that!!!! I was SO fuming listening to this girl talk. I remember thinking that I REALLY hoped her friend had been listening so she would realize what a great 'friend' this girl was. I cannot believe there are people that actually act this way!!!

How shallow can someone be ?
This is taking control freak to a new level - the absurd.

Whether people actually do this or not, I never understood why some brides are worried about their BM's gaining weight...I mean, wouldn't the bride want to look the skinniest in the pictures anyway?

ROFL- I would never REALLY do it.

But I did send a contract I found online to my bridesmaids as a JOKE.

I wrote 'Of course I'm kidding!' at the bottom but one of them didn't get that far and called me to express her anger (putting it mildly)

I felt bad...but I was kidding!

I was really lenient. I let them help pick the dress (which they all b*tched about in the end- with good cause- it was VERY difficult to wear a bra with (I didn't realize it would be...and none of the larger breasted gals tried on the sample))

I let them do what they wanted with their hair- which worked out in all but 1 case (my SIL showed up at my moms with her hair still in a towel. She just pulled it back in a bun. It didn't look that great- but whatever)

I let them do what they wanted as far as shoes (2 of them wore black with a brown dress and I felt bad insisting they buy new shoes- the dress was long and none of my pics show the shoes (esp since I bought them gold flip flops to change into!)

Sorry- I'm rambling. People are crazy.

LOL....I could never ask them to sign something like that. My bridesmaids were always teasing me calling me Bridezilla even though I was no where close to being one (every bride has her moments though and I had only a few...LOL).

And besides, one of my bridesmaids gained weight before my wedding so therefore she would be in breach of the contract and of course my MOH was 3 months pregnant when we were married so she would have definitely been in breach of the contract. I think that is ridiculous. The reason you asked the people to be in your bridal party is because you love these girls and want them to be a part of your special day and they are important to you. I think asking them to sign a contract is just ridiculous...unless its a joke and then its hilarious.

Oddly though, all of my bridesmaids asked permission to cut their hair. I felt weird being consulted. You are a grown woman for god's sake. Do your hair. Look appropriate.

i've heard of some brides who were out of control! i would never! i didnt even care if the girls wore matching shoes or not ! haha

my MOH told all of my BMs that i wanted everyone to have long hair, done in an Updo. i got some phone calls on THAT one! of course, i never said such a thing, especially since two of my girls had fairly short hair. they called and asked if i really wanted them to grow their hair out. i was like, what are you talking about?!

but yeah, i think any sort of stipulations like that are crazy!!
